My drivers door has been sticking and making a terrible noise since I've had the truck, so yesterday decided to finally find where the problem was. I was sure It was at the bottom where they had welded on some new metal but it was only the convertible top sitting too low and the back top of the...
Now that I think about it I don't believe it has ever worked since I've had the truck. Today though I noticed it wasn't moving over any, so I tapped on it and it immediately pegged out on hot.
Edit: Does anybody know if that sounds like the gauge the sensor or something else?
Well at least you know your good on the final end with the big cat, and I'm at least stopping whatever the wix will catch first.
Maybe I should have got the secondary kit first, but it was considerably more expensive.
It sounds like I put them together completely opposite of what you are describing but all of the parts were under the filters when I took them off. There wasn't enough room to turn the brass bowl upside down so the thin rim would bite into the cork on the secondaries. There was enough room on...
Thanks for the offer, but I was able to get the leaks stopped by tightening up the filters. It sounds dumb I guess but I was putting them back on with a large 1/2" drive ratchet and was afraid of over tightening them, so today I used a small crescent and could feel they were actually too lose...
I had to stretch the new gaskets to get them on, they looked a little buckled after they were in place so that may be what happened, I'll look at it closer today. The shutdown cable was creeping back in after being pulled out, so I can't be sure it was really off but I read where I wasn't...
I installed the spin on primary today and finished putting the OEM secondary filters back together. With fuel cable in the stop position I let the pump run to fill up and bleed the secondaries, maybe two minutes. When I cranked the engine to check for hydraulic lock it turned just a little and...
Ok thanks sandcobra, but I'm too paranoid about bothering somebody generally to do that. I'm in the local MV club but haven't met with them in years and don't know anyone with a big truck. Plus, I'm thinking more of a broke down in the middle of the road situation ( my biggest breakdown fear). I...
This is an incredibly helpful thread. The reason I stopped driving the Deuce was because I was afraid of a $500 minimum tow bill (that's what I imagined it would be). Fortunately I was wrong and a few weeks ago got a quote from the closest towing company between me and town for $250 for a 15...
Ok, thanks for clarifying that, I wasn't sure if the spin on adapters only take one kind of filter. Do you happen to have the 6 micron NAPA part number? Thanks.
Could somebody elaborate on how to change the horn to mechanical valve? I had mine working ( sort of ) before it sat for so long and now it won't do anything. I had installed a new button and solenoid before and it did work ,but never great, it was kind of weak most of the time. I never could...
Wow, that sounds great. I assume you have the Jatonka adapters? It never occurred to me you could use different filters, but it does make more sense, I noticed today the base is marked secondary and final. Why couldn't you just use the 2 micron for both secondary and final though?
I'm starting to get really aggravated at this secondary filter setup. Now the little rubber washer got wedged between the center bolt and the steel washer in the canister and tore. Where am I supposed to be able to find one of those? With this crazy setup it's amazing these trucks are even still...
So I was able to install the primary filter while I'm waiting for the spin on to get here.
However, somebody is going to have to explain how to get the 3512 NAPA filters closed up inside the secondary canisters, they seem too long and I can't start the nut at the top. Will they definitely...
My truck has Jerry can brackets on the rear mudflaps, how common is that? All of them on the truck are marked USMC, does that mean it was actually a Marine truck? I don't like the mounts on the mudflaps and want to take them off, they are on crooked and to me make the truck look junky.
Is there...
I'm sending the payment for a spin on primary tommorow, I have very little confidence in the original setup after opening it and will change out the secondary filters asap. One reason is because it looks like fuel can easily go between the center bolt and the filter housing, plus there was crud...
I've always thought they were a rather expensive luxury item, but after experiencing the original setup will definitely be adding them later. I might have to add them now if I can't get this thing back together.
How could they promote me to Sergeant when I can't even change a fuel filter?
Definitely not Popeye, I'm closer to Olive Oyl. I just took a look in the tank and it doesn't look anything like inside the filters. I can see an old gasket on the bottom of the tank and it's spotty looking on the bottom.
Right now I'm trying to get the primary back on, it has a tremendous...
I realize now I should have used a flashlight to look in the tank when it was empty, but I was in a hurry and working on it down in the yard, so I didn't. However I did stick a yard stick down in the tank a few times to see how high the fuel was and it came out clean, so maybe it's ok?
Plus...
