The two MV clubs I belong to (NY Military Vehicle Club & Long Island Military Vehicle Club) convoyed out to the city for a great Veterans day parade. We had a fantastic turnout of MV's and the NJ guys brought out some really amazing stuff. Including a couple of Gun Trucks and a Half Track...
New update. Front brake were as bad as the rear. Lines were full of water and rust so everything was replaced including calibers. Only the rotors were saved with just a cutting. Now she really stops well. Of course the truck had to give me one more kick in the groin on the way home with a...
The three of us met up this morning and enjoyed a nice crisp fall road trip. Just about a 50 mile loop through some back roads of Long Island (not many left). Stopped for breakfast and to check out the Navy aircraft on display. Looks like this might become a regular thing. Anyone in the area...
RE: Re: RE: Re: My CUCV keeps blowing Starter Relay???
Hey Mike. Yes I have all the manuals and I'm in Coram (Suffolk County). Well today after work I brought my truck inside to see if I could find a problem. A few people said it sounded like a ground to the engine so first I added a new 24"...
Re: RE: Re: My CUCV keeps blowing Starter Relay???
I wanted to know if you ever figured this problem out? I have the exact same problem. Last night I replaced the starter relay under the dash with a ford type solenoid so it could handle the amp load. The first few starts were perfect. Then...
What's up 1stDeuce, My setup is stock. 24v being sent to the starter solenoid and 12v to activate the relay. Today I mounted a starter solenoid under the dash, hooked the 4 wires up from the original relay to the new solenoid. For the most part it works good and should handle the amp load. Now I...
Well like I said a week ago the truck is back on the road after over a year and a half. She is running great but now the little things are breaking. The first test ride caused the wheel cylinder to pop. Not easy stopping the truck with 36" tires and only front brakes. Tomorrow I will be...
First off the GM part# is correct for your truck. So when the bolt comes it will be right. For some reason I think it is the same bolt as an after 1982 SBC. I kind of remember talking about it to someone a while back. Either way my bolts came from the HELP rack and they are correct. I in my...
The Blazers biggest down fall is it's 3.08's. If you ever have a plan for 36's I would stick with the 4.56 ratio. Stock tires you would be better off with 3.73 or 4.10
RE: starter bolts
I just wanted to add my 2 cents since I had all kind of starter issues that are now gone. I only gave a quick read so if I missed something please forgive. The 6.2 starter bolts are available at any auto parts store. Same with the shims. There is at least a 1/2" of NO threads...
Hey Mike. I just got back from Seattle last night. I was in north WA all last week and there sure were a lot of you Navy guys around. I think the Lincoln is in port.
I would check fluid level and smell first. Then take the truck out and manual shift it up from first and hold the gears longer. You should be able to know if it's shifting or not.
RE: Over a Year & a Half under a cover & she fired r
When the Flex Plate Teeth finally went (Bad since I bought it) and cracked the starter housing I figured it was a good time to fix all the oil leaks that started popping up. After laying under there for hours looking at what all the heavy...
RE: Over a Year & a Half under a cover & she fired r
If you would stop being such a slave driver at work I would have more energy to finish the truck after work. I still love ya Boss.
I uncovered it a week ago from where it sat since March 2007. Been charging the batteries everyday for a few hours each @ 2amps. Put the trans. & T-Case up Sat. Hooked most everything up today after work. Turned it on, waited for the light to go out and cranked her over. About a second later the...
Most of the GM part #'s from my TM that I needed were good. Here are the ones that are no good while looking them up on GM Parts Direct. Anyone have the correct numbers so I can place my order?
359917 - Trans modulator
8623263 - Gov Gasket
140020854 - T-Case to Adapter Gasket
8626916 - Front...
