If you want to keep the bigger spare, just make sure that if you get a flat in the rear you rotate the correct size from the front to the rear to prevent any problems. If you are planning on driving on the spare for longer periods of time (ie just put on the spare and drive it til you need new...
The general concensus ( and I agree) is that the truck bled down fuel pressure and lost prime because of sitting. This results in 3 problems: 1-you have to re-bleed the system to get fuel back to the injector pump and injectors to create pressure to power the injectors. 2- air in the filter...
Sad thing is if you hadn't pulled it you would have another 100k miles on it. But...this gives you the ability to upgrade to a 6.5l with serpentine.....
Check the fittings up near the master cylinder. Could have a leak that is draining down the line. It would also let air into the system constantly and give you the spongy feel. If the lines are dry and the cylinder looks good try to trace the puddle to a drip. It is possible the caliper is...
I see em now. Didn't really stick out much because they are right under the port and the same color as the housing. Headed to the hardware store tomorrow to find a decent 0-15 PSI gauge and I am off to the races!
Oh yeah...and a truck load of fuel line.
And new hose clamps.
This list is...
The filter housing, filter, fittings, etc are all cheap. What is costing me is when the wife found out I bought something without consulting her first.
New filter housing and filters came in - big thanks to GimpyRobb for the quick turn around. Quick question before I start working on lining things up.
Ports are listed as 1-2-3-4 with 2 and 3 being against the fire wall. However it does not list which ones need to be input and which need to...
A lot of people call the Junk because of early issues with the injector pumps. They were notorious for failing without notice and like all IP's...they were fairly costly to replace. A few upgrades later and an injector pump is just as reliable as the fuel you run, filters you keep and rebuilds...
Did you find just a strainer or did you replace the whole sending unit? LMC sells the whole unit with fuel gauge assembly and new filter, but the filter looks like it's almost cheese cloth. I was expecting more of a metal mesh as opposed to a flimsy cloth. Checked with AutoBone and NAPA and...
Good to hear. I am getting ready to do the same thing to mine to fix pretty much the same problems. How did the sock look when you pulled it out of the tank?
We were just discussing this in another thread. Apparently badger diesel has some decent return lines for sale. Plus small engine repair shops have tygon and viton lines that will also work. I am going to pull some specs and start replacing mine since I am running biodiesel as much as possible...
Lots of grease...I went light on mine and knocked it loose. Twenty minutes of cranking before I realized it dropped. Next time I am taking a block off plate from a 6.5 and running an electric lift pump.
Well that and it comes with a factory turbo. And it was the standard beater motor for Chevy step side vans for years, so parts should be all over. But when it comes to availability immediately...I can find a decent 6.2 just about anywhere.
Considering how gutless any jeep is that doesn't have the 4.0...the 6.2 is going to feel like a road warrior in comparison. My buddy has an 88jeep and we were considering dropping in a 4bt cummins when he blows his now third motor.
Are you talking about the one that runs to the slave cylinder? There is an internal and external slave cylinder depending on the setup you get. The last person I know that did this conversion used a piece of rigid tubing and a hand bender to get the pieces that didn't come with the donor vehicle.
I think the other brand is Viton. I don't have any direct experience with either one, just doing some reading up and google searches for when I start replacing all my fuel lines. Would love to replace all of it with rigid stainless with flared fittings....wife wouldn't love the bill for it.
Isn't that a nylon based fuel line? I was told I need to swap to something along that line since I run biodiesel on a regular basis and it keeps from eating the rubber lines.
Sounds good. I have replaced 2 on mine for leaking between the two parts of the base. Last repair was my own fault. I over tightened the injector line and cracked the flared end.
Try this. Blast it with brake cleaner and dry it all out. Get a good flashlight and long stem mirror, then get a friend to fire it up. Since you have fuel on the block next to the injector you should see a spray or spurt that will tell you where exactly it's leaking from. Might be from the...
