Nice work!
Did that steering wheel come with the truck? Or did you add it? I'm looking for one just like that. Currently have the old rounded one that needs replacement.
I just put in a block heater in my 813. Drained all I could using the radiator first then the pipe plug just below the rear coolant access plate. Then refilled with Fleet Charge. They didn't have the pre-mixed so used the full strength and mixed with distilled water. Got it at Tractor Supply...
Does that heater need a gasket? I bought the same one (860-1046) pictured in the first post on eBay. Did not come with a cable or gasket. But don't know if it was supposed to.

Would like to stay original which for the 5 Ton would I believe be Esmet GD-162-X...
Very nice job! I think it is certainly a worth while experiment. Maybe you'll end up with some kind of hybrid in the end just to get your max range up. I think even Oshkosh is looking at hybrid designs for the big ones ProPulse® : Oshkosh Defense.
I had an M35 and liked it a lot. Maybe partly because it was my first military truck after wanting one for quite a while. Actually had 2 -- first a "D" then the "C" whistler. Really liked the sound the whistler made. Then took the plunge into 5 tons with an XM813 and really like this one...
