Wrecker came and got the M1009 yesterday morning and at the shop today. The shop owner said, "That's a military vehicle isn't it. I saw the shackles then the plate on the door." Glad to hear he is a little excited about having it in the shop.
Question - Is there anything that I need to be...
A couple of calculator links for you.. Someone will chime in as to the optimum RPM range for running the engine. I seem to remember that there is a sweet spot that people shoot for when changing gears.

Well pulled the pan just in time for the sky to start pouring. In coastal VA we get the same amount of rain as Seattle but we get it literally inches at a time. I dropped the valve body just enough to put the pin on the rooster comb in the slot on the manual valve piston. The kick down solenoid...
So was able to get the spring compressed on the accumulator and the little e-clip back on the post - $30 later.
I put the valve body back on and all went well so I thought. I now have forward movement in ALL gears including neutral. Park still works. From what I understand, I failed to...
BLUF: Changed my glow plug relay (NAPA ST-85) and did Doghead mod
Mine did something very similar. It would start when it had not been run (wait light comes on, 1/2 pedal depressed). I would drive it around and go to the store and it would sit for a while and would not start when I came back...
Perhaps you could go for this look:

Just make sure all your rodents are out first.
Rodents just plain like to chew on wiring. I have had them eat dishwasher return lines, extension cords, lamp cords.... If you let...
Tried to install my new 2-3 accumulator pump so that I can put my transmission back together and maybe more the Oh-9 out of the driveway. Need a special tool of course!
Well finally got a dry weekend day where I had some time and tried to install my new parts.
I am a little confused by the 2-3 accumulator recess and post. Mine appears to be at a slight angle as can be seen in the pics below.
There also turns out to be a special tool to compress the...
My parts came in today.....but I have a question!
All of them -
Accumulator and gasket - but which one?
I could not buy the seal that goes around the accumulator by itself and had to buy a set which had more than I hopefully need. The two seals pictured by the accumulator are the...
The seal around the accumulator pump piston was not completely on and looked like it had been that way. One of my pictures above shows how it came out and the position it was in when I removed it. I am going to try replacing that first. If that doesn't work, I will have to decide to rebuild or...
Ordered my accumulator piston, which turns out to be aluminum, a new seal kit for it, and the upper and lower gaskets for the valve body. Will see if this is my fix!
I appreciate the note and insight. I am going to order some parts today. The local store just carries the whole rebuild kit for about $125 and I really think all I need is the gaskets for either side of the hard plate above the valve body and the 2-3 accumulator pump. Looks like I can get those...
Thanks - that's the best diagram I have seen yet! I see in this one it says to leave out the one check ball.
Still looking to see if I can find an accumulator pump somewhere.
These guys seem to have most of the parts
Transmission Parts 3L80, 400 GM Rear Wheel Drive
Hopefully the fix will be relatively easy or this may be my first transmission rebuild or swap. The truck only has 61k miles on it.
I found this diagram for check ball location

Some sites say not to put all the check balls back in place. Has that been the...
