RE: Brake Lines
What does double-flaring exactly mean? I suppose the tube in Bjorn's picture is not double flared, is it?
Problem with the OEM lines from Holland (e.g. Reomie) is that for one reason or another they hardly fit, we've had that before, and then it takes weeks and $$$ to return...
RE: Brake Lines
Thanks! That helped a lot, expecially the picture, Bjorn. The line between the mbc and the airpack is kinked badly and in my opinion responsible for the slow return of the brake pedal to the neutral position after breaking. I wonder how a drop of brake fluid can pass this...
Hi,
I need to replace the brake line between the mbc and the airpack, and figured, that I could fabricate that by myself, since I have the tools for this task (I used to do that on VW beetles before).
Does anyone know the exact size of the brake line, and is this a special type (metal) or...
RE: 24v to 12v converters
Here's an idea on AC systems: I managed to get hold of a UPS System from APC, namely one like that:
http://www.dealtime.co.uk/xPF-APC-Smart-UPS-3000RMI3U-SU3000RMI3U
I plan to build it onto a green NATO-aluminum case and connect it to the 24V outlet on the deuces cab...
RE: roof top pool
put a wooden bar lenghtwise on the middle of the bows to keep the canvas from hanging down inbetween.
I would not drive with that permanently, though, as I would fear that it rubs through the canvas eventually or damages it.
There is also a paraffinized solution which can be...
Hey you were real lucky, man. Somebody was watching over you.
This July - three days before taking off for 5 weeks in Malaysia / Borneo - I was riding my Suzuki DR650 home from work. It was raining badly und I was taking a left turn across some cross roads, when suddenly tha car in front...
Hi,
nice pictures! You might want to contact Jeff from http://www.clatskanie.com/bat/ .
He is affiliated with Frank Flick from http://www.unimogs-online.de/index.htm
Frank has a lot of knowledge about the MAN KAT type vehicles and sells them, too. He can route original german spare...
We have a paint-shop here which can take a scan of any color (you have to bring in a specimen with the original paint, in my case a bridge plate) and reproduce it in a mixing apparatus. It is supposed to have a good accuracy.
I'll do that with my original bridge-plate numbers to get the...
JD, great job, I hope and see to that my deuce will look as good :-)
I'll give it a try to make my own stencils (there are army true type fonts for windows), either by cutting them out with a scalpel or having them cut with a cutting plotter.
Unfortunately we have no one here to supply ready...
Thanks for sharing, I like to see them at work!
@armyman: I have also seen these rear or mid-mounted whinches on the Swiss Saurer 2 DM mil-trucks. They route the whinch-cables either to the front or the back. Interesting concept.
@ Jon,
thanks for the information on the paint type. I received a sample of a 24087 type yesterday from the only company in germany that mixes this type of paint, so I'm eager to see the results of my tests.
If it looks like the shade in your picture I'll be pleased....
One thing that makes...
hehe nice ride
I was craning my neck in front of the screen when the camera man got out, because I wanted to see how the rig looked from the front!!
Pics!
RE: Re: RE: Transmission noise
Hmmm, so I'll check the fluids in the transmission and the transfercase and try to find out where the noise is exactly coming from. Maybe its not the transmission at all!
Thanks for the input.
When I was out for a field trip yesterday I noticed that after around 12 miles of driving (cold start) the transmission gradually develops a loud whine in the 5th gear, starting at a little under 40mph.
To me it seems like it is linked to warming up of the transmission.
I hear this since I...
We use the H161 headphones with the VIC-1. I think they are OK, although they get uncomfortable when you have to wear them for a few hours. We also found that they are a little tricky with the cable setup.
Apparantly we have at least one set with a faulty cable.
Does anyone know if there are...
Shot out! this morning.
The ball flew around 16ft across the yard, but was stopped short by a tree.
Nice trajectory, sort of mortar-like, and well visible due to the long flag. The flag is quite heavy though and induces a lot of aerodynamical drag, which reduces the range. Direction of aiming...
