The 27 as the type-designator still wonders me.
I suppose the dataplate is not original. Some of the numbers are written in european style ( the 7 ) and somebody put in 1945 as mfg-date, thats baloney of course.

I corrected it. On pictures of my vehicles I would post the pictures unobscured, but you never know how other people feel about that.

the Schirmventilverstellung had nothing to do with the breaking system. I remember that we used to put some pretty nasty stuff in the fueltanks of the MAN and had to to use the cranks to make the motors start more easily. It was also supposed to be used on starting when the temperatures...
I believe we had these engines in the MAN 630 military trucks, which still were in service in the eighties with the Bundeswehr. I enlisted in the army back then and did my service in a shortwave-radio truck of that sort.

I think the data speaks clearly for the Racor unit, although it is really large and hard to position conveniently on the deuce. I'll see if I can find one over here...

I think about adding a water- and dirt separating fuelfilter to the deuces fuel-delivery system and came across this product:

dunno about the buggy, except for that it was a typical type on VW-basics. Nothing military as far as I know, just a look-a-like. Wasted time ;-)

We didn't ride our deuce through these mudholes for exactly that reason. But it was prime time to watch!
To me, the stars of that show were the M151 for driving almost submerged through the holes, and two small Unimogs for their unsurpassed offroad-capabilities. Unfortunatly they are not...
