I saw a set similar to that a while back. I think it was 45kw single or 60kw 3 phase or something like that. It had a 4cyl turbo diesel. Went for about 2600. If I hadn't already bought the 803 and had it all sorted and connected I would have tried to buy it.
The enclosure I was referring to was...
If you are wanting uninterrupted service during an outage just look at the main breaker in your panel. You most likely have a 200 amp panel so a 48KW single phase generator would fix you up. Hardy Diesel Generators sells a 40KW Perkins for $13,423 and a 55KW unit for $14,100. I don't see...
Harbor Freight sells an inexpensive 7 function Clamp-On Digital Multimeter for $16.99 that has a peak hold function. They also have two others that do not have the peak hold function so make sure and get the 7 function model if you go that route. The one I bought read about 4 amps low compared...
Forget the sync and load management. Just go to Hardy Diesel Generators and order a 25KW Perkins. Don't forget to order the enclosure. About $13,250 should do it. :)
Not knowing what size AC, water heater, etc. nobody can answer with certainty but I don't think you should attempt to power all the items you want at the same time. Some load management will be necessary.
I can run my 3.5 ton AC and well along with all the normal 120v circuits with my 803A. I...
Guyfang,
Did you ever receive a new unit with defects and return it under warranty or did the military just fix or shove them aside?
I just wonder if some of these super low hour units were delivered with defects and just put aside. I think I prefer a unit with some time on the clock.
Just did my first real test of this unit and it works GREAT! Sure beats toting 5 gal cans.
I pumped all the fuel from my 803A into my backhoe then switched to the 55 gal drum and finished filling that. Then I filled the generator back up and last I topped off my little John Deere. That about...
That was an 803.
I've seen several low hour units sell for much higher. A unit in VA recently auctioned for $3600. That's well over 4 grand after taxes and fees for a drained unit they don't even know if it will run. That is plain crazy if you ask me.
I check the auction site every now and again but all the decent ones near me seem to go for crazy prices. I watched one on craigslist not sell for months for what I thought was a reasonable price. It had a little over 5,000 hours on it but the guy was down to $1800 for a running unit with fresh...
We have had a rash of oak trees falling. I've had two on the property behind me fall on my fence and 3 more on that property fell the oposit direction.
One went down on the line 4 miles down the road last night. I am surprised it knocked out as many houses as it did. Power company said 571 homes.
Had a 3 hour outage last night and both alarms worked as designed.
This was the third outage since getting the generator set up in January. It sure is nice having a set that runs our well and AC along with all the other comforts.
I just wanted to finalize this thread with my choices. I purchased a power out and a power back alarm made by Reliance Controls.
The power out alarm will wake us if power goes out while we are sleeping. It has it's own battery built in so all I had to do is plug it in and turn the switch on...
The main power feed is not accessible in my case. It passes into a flush mounted panel in the garage through conduit. My garage walls are finished and insulated like the rest of the house. In my original post I stated that I tried this method on the main breaker but it wouldn't work.
I will...
Can't really see my neighbors from my house. And the call back offered by our co-op may have an 8 to 10 hour lag. When I called in today's outage the system didn't offer the call back option so it may no longer exist.
This little doodad I ordered should do the trick for me. I will get the $35...
If you want a standard type inexpensive battery you might can use a Value Power group 26 from wally world. Size is (L x W x H) 6.80 x 8.20 x 7.80 Inches. They are 525 CCA. Price at my location is $50 plus core and gov fees. Two of em spin my 803A just fine.
