I removed the alternator belts and we ran on battery power today. The 5 ton was a big hit with the birthday girl and her friends, the parents, and the neighbors. They all had smiles on their faces which is the reason my wife wanted the truck. It was a great time, and everyone was high and dry...
We typically turn off the run switch, then the battery switch when shutting down and will continue this practice religously now that we know damage can occur.
What kind of shop? Electric motor, or Cummins? I'm in the Cincinnati metro area so I'm sure there must be something around here, just not sure what to look for.
I was actually thinking of removing the pulley & belts, but wasn't sure how long the batteries would last. We may put smiles on some faces Saturday after all. Thanks 98G.
Thank you for your insight.
I'm guessing I should I disconnect it and take the reading, correct? I recall reading that 28VDC should be the alternator output, is that correct?
Mrs. HUlk is crushed because she is supposed to have her truck at a little girl's birthday party on Saturday to give rides for her and her 17 friends, and it's looking like that is not going to happen.

Atmoshpere(oxygen) entering the bulb will enable the fillament to burn. This sounds like what may be happening resulting in the dark color you are seeing.
Sorry for the confusing reply, yes you should count us in for one 5ton. And we are looking forward to meeting you and any other folks we haven't yet. Mrs. HUlk has not had much luck finding folks to ride along :(
So we have room if anyone would like to ride.
From what I have seen latex enamels can take up to a month to fully cure throuhgout the coating. My guess is after enough curing time the BEHR paint will become much more durable and not be easily scratched like soon after application.
I have some industrial coating experience and have learned that proper curing plays a role in durability. Some of the paints had hardeners(catalyst) mixed in and others were two part epoxies. These paints were heat cured for better durability. We also used paints that were cured with...
I gathered that there is flow on both sides, no leaks, and mechanical items & linings are okay. The point I was trying to make is that an imbalance in flow on one side caused from a partial obstruction may cause the brake force to be different on either side. Such as the pinched line scenario...
