Then install air bags or add a leaves. Using shocks as part of the load carrying system is old and bad tech. There's a reason you don't see those shocks much anymore and are having trouble finding some.

Keep in mind that the shock mounts weren't designed to bear weight or great loads.

How big of a trailer are we talking? Pop up or small, short travel trailer? A K5 can probably do that...but you get much bigger and they get squirrelly. Mom and dad had a '92 Blazer K1500. Newer suspension, heavier ratings, better towing ability, etc etc and it was a bit squirrelly once...

Why? If you need more load capacity do it the right way and put a set of add a leaves in the rear. Those air shocks and shocks with springs on them don't do much other than stiffen the ride and bend shock mounts.

I think the rated tow capacity of a similar civilian K5 was like 3500-lbs. Folks tend to over estimate what these things were designed to tow back in the day compared to today where 7k is on the small side even for a half ton.

The M1010's have a unique electrical system that proved problematic. Just do a search on here for M1010 and you'll probably find over a dozen threads about folks dinking with theirs trying to make it work. Folks were saying even the military never quite got a perfect solution.
