    1984 M1009 CUCV - GP Temp Control Switch - Cold start issues

    Well researched and repaired, I chose to install manual glow plug switch, eliminating that sensor and the glow plug card altogether. Just my preference.

    Front axles not working in 4 wheel drive

    If roads are snow and ice covered I lock in the front hubs and put in 4wd high and drive 55-60 mph, no problem, my truck is a 86 1009 with 4.56 gears front and rear. I am on my 3rd winter with this truck, no problem. In 4wd low I would limit the speed dramatically.

    Using electric fuel pump with two filters

    I recently upgraded my fuel system also,do yourself a favor and install a fuel pump wiring harness with a relay. I used wix 33270 for pre pump filter and I have a wix 33005 spin on under the hood.Love the 31 gallon tank gives me a 450 mile fuel up.

    My 1009 used to snarl to life in 3-5 seconds with out the block heater until I installed rebuilt ip,I installed straight up with timing marks, I will be advancing ip timing this week. It also will not warm up beyond 150 even after idling for an hour or more.

    I picked up a heavy duty cabinet style lock with 5/8 mounting depth and 3 different lock arms,gonna mount top center of fuel door. Won't be theft proof but theft resistant.

    After 50k happy miles on my 86 1009 with 456 gears someone dumped something in my fuel tank,ruined my injectors and ip ,I replaced tank with a 31 gal tank,electric pump, new fuel line,new injectors, new ip,new glowplugs, new starter.And working on a fuel door lock.
