Getting mine ready for Iola!
Got the bows and tarp on mine. Getting ready to hook the Deuce up to the tow bar for a trip to Iola this year. Now I have TWO of them to show off. One 'ol rusty but trusty and one really nice clean Deuce.
Does anybody have the info on an old 8 or 10 spd Spicer Trans that would keep the 6x6 and PTO? Any help would be greatly appreciated! As far as the other info in this thread... Great stuff and useful. Thanks to all who posted!
I'm afraid I really didn't DO anything TO my 5 ton... and I did promise my brother I wouldn't come home with "another Big Green Truck".... So brought home a smaller green friend for it!
A 1956 M35A2!
One more question for the group...as I have no idea where to find the info I need. I have a line on "Oshkosh Wheels" that look like the ones on my truck now. Anybody know if there's a difference? First two pics are of the rims on my truck now, following two pics (without rubber on it) is the...
Early style Hemmet Rims!
And we have a winner! Thank you. Now I know what I'm looking for! Thank you very much.
True. I can still use a single Hemmet rim as it will have the same back spacing. I just wanted to keep them all the same if I could.
<Slaps forehead> Yes.... You are correct...
So, I guess the proper terminology would be a 3 piece (with split ring) 10x20 rim. NOT a budd style rim though! These have a different off set. My only other option would be to find 7 Hemmnt rims. $$$$$$ :-(
These are the rims on the truck now. 3 piece with the split ring. I have worked on them in the past and know the safety aspect. I would never try to mess with the ring while there was ANY air pressure in the tire or without chains. Thank you for the links. Good refreshers!
All I need is ONE more...
I've got split rims on it now! Bought it that way from the Veterans Museum in Oshkosh, WI. I have a combat rim for my spare, but the offset is WAY off to use on my truck. (an older M813a1) I had been told my rims were 14" wide...but I have yet to find any. Been looking for months now. That's why...
Ive been told by a local scrap yard "expert" that a 16.00 super fit's on a standard 10" split rim. Can anybody confirm or deny this for me? I was under the impression they fit on wider rims? Can anybody point me in the direction of inter tubes for a 16.00 as well? I'm having a hard time finding...
Large RV's flat tow their "back up" vehicles. While you CAN put a jeep in the back of a Deuce, it's a pretty complicated/dangerous process loading up tall ramps. It's a fairly easy thing to hook up a tow bar!
Current 5 ton owner. Expecting my first Deuce in little less than a month!
