No help from the front end at all. For the record: No... not truly stuck. I was able to back it back out after a little wiggling and back and forth. My poppets do not work and the sprag actuator does not "clunk" when shifting. There is a bit of a hiss going into reverse. But none going into 1st...
Got the Big Green beast started and warmed up. Did a basic walk around and proceeded to get myself stuck within a truck length in 2feet of packed snow. Dangit.... I have to get the poppet valve and the sprag actuator seal replaced! This is just embarrassing.....
As soon as the snow thaws... or I get my poppet valve replaced so I can get out of the 4 foot drift .... I'll use my GPS to make a handy conversion chart to stick next to the speedo.
I am looking for this as well. My speedo is WAY off with 1600's now! Without my GPS I'd have no clue what speed I'm going. There must be a way to regear the speedo output?
They ALWAYS want you to get rid of your "stuff" to get more stuff. I had to lose many many toys to please her. Then I changed it up and got rid of her. I am much happier now!
Oh. Good point Jeepsinker. If there is more than a 5-6% difference in tire size between the front and rear that could explain why it doesn't want to drop out of 6x6.
Sorry about that Derrick112, wasn't looking at the screen names. Darn it, the nomenclature of the tapered plow blade escapes me at the moment. But they are mainly used on highway trucks where the idea is to lift and throw the snow in only one direction.
IF it is still stuck in forward 6x6 you will get that binding/skip even with open diff's while on hard surfaces. My 4x4 does that too. It has to do with the difference in distance traveled by the front and rear tires. While a diff with allow tires on either side to rotate at different speeds, a...
If you look.... that is the plow system that was just posted in this link :

But thanks for the extra pic!
Looking forward to the vids! Anybody got any?
Cool. Besides the Humvee kit, this is the first actual kit with an NSN for a Tactical vehicle. of course, it's only a 2.5 ton truck, not a 5ton as I have. And since it's only a 2.5 ton truck with a 9' plow... I can see being told to plow at 10" or below.
But still. A 5 ton. 22K pounds. 6x6 with...
I've seen a LOT of snow plows added to peoples truck after they were sold on auction. I have never seen a "military" plow added to a currently active duty tactical vehicle!
As I said. I found ONE bulletin for the Humvee kit that some unit in "arctic conditions". But not for ANY 5 ton (of any...
Help!
I'm in an on-going "debate" with my father about the use of tactical vehicles and snowplows. HE CLAIMS to have read THE ACTUAL manual for MY truck and snowplow that would have been put on it. He further states that THE MANUAL states to not plow more than 10" of snow at a time if possible...
3 months ago I siphoned the tank to keep the furnace running during the cold snap. Unemployement has been hard and I had to make short cuts and cut backs. dropping insurance and letting the plates expire on Big Green was just one of many such cuts.
While I still do not have a full time job...
They do that now to civilian contractors with guns, road blocks and IED's. At least this way only the truck and the gear is at risk, not innocent drivers or non-combatants. But I do agree... a computer will never replace a human mind. Being able to see whats going on and make decisions. I would...
Awesome. I just noticed I didn't post my pics here on SS. I'm looking forward to pics of your install.
P.S. It's looks much better once it's painted GREEN! ;-)
1st off. paying for TWO cranes and mounting them on either sides will work out GREAT... for moving your heavy tires on the back of your truck. Wont do JACK for the heavy tires on the front axle! Save some money. Buy ONE crane to help lower/lift the tire from the bed to the ground. I use a...
Sorry. Should have read all posts. Didn't see that nevrenufhp had commented on this point. The brakes on my F100 were just as good as the F150's by 1980.
Looking forward to your build pics!
