Agree that is the only thing I miss with my 1028 is the extended cab .that spoils you never think about it when you have it . then you and the wife go shopping and come out of store with a full cart to remember you drove the 1028 aua
for the front Unbolt the old bumper unbolt the tie downs get bumper and bolt on with new chrome bolts pretty simple I would think after all its just a 80's Chevy truck! LOL the rear you will need to remove the pintle other then that about the same a unbolt and replace just a 80's Chevy truck...
Sorry left out Yes really for the most part they are easy to change do not need to remove wheel or even jack the truck up just pull the hub the snap rings can be a pain to get out sometimes there is a big on just inside the hub after you take the outer lockout cap and dial off that sits in a...
Not real bad to change Allen wrench's snap ring pliers and small screw drive or pick and you can change them when you go to get the hubs the military truck will make no diff. its just a full size blazer in fact blazer, jimmy,or suburban 69 threw 91 and 1/2 ton Chevy or GMC truck 69 threw 87 all...
to break the Vin down 1GCGD34J9HF400266
first three in the Vin is Chevy truck,4th means 8001 to 9000 /hyd brakes , the 5th is chassis type and for some reason gm used D for 4x4 for that year only on all 4x4 trucks , the 6th is 3 means 1 ton the 5/4 ton or 1 1/4 ton is the military only...
:ditto: without more details we would just be speculating what all was turning the most likely thing to look at if front drive shaft was spinning is lockouts and the aluminum inside parts are the weak links!! to check put in 4 wheel low or high with trans in park and and engine off get under...
Yes they are 25+ years old yes the springs may have settled a bit over the years that does not mean you have to change them Allot of trucks and cars for that matter are still driving on there old springs with no issues yes seals and such will wear out or need replaced at some point. point being...
some times when you press or drive the caps out you unknowingly can bend or spring the ears a small amount just like your saying. the joint fit in the other half of the shaft so i bet you will just need to spring the yolk ears out. if your not sure then like you said have somebody else look at...
If you need a crank only signal then yes you can tap the purple/white wire its hot only when in crank position with the key! you should really do the doghead starter relay swap if you have not yet. save yourself a starter some time down the road ! [thumbzup]
Only two things it could be from what I have read a needle has fallen into cap but it sounds like the ears of the yoke has got bent and you need to spread them just a bit!
You will never get power from both alternators one is for one battery and the other is for the second battery both alternates are only 12 volt the only thing that is 24 volt is the starter nothing else that is why the starter relay is there so the 12 volt switch can switch 24 volt to the starter...
:ditto::ditto: about says it all! And welcome! been doing the vol Firefighter first responder thing for 19.5 years now. Know all to well about the minutes notice all hours of day and night thing!
That is one of the things that gets me the most - How many on here think that these trucks are so different then the civilian model when you get right down to it the only diff is the 24 volt starter and electric add ons for it and dual alts to be able to jump start anything military take that...
