I'm waiting for a call back from Diesel Care. I spoke to "Hope" who is having a manager call me. She said is is not likely I'll get Billy Williams on the phone. I'm finding these people to be a little standoffish. I'm asking about replacement cover. I guess the cover contains the shut-off...
I spoke to someone at the company who said run transmission fluid through it or take it all back apart and send it back to them. We'll see how transmission fluid does. Maybe it just need broke in. If I attempt to fix the pump myself by removing screws, it would probably void the warranty.
Thanks. I'm struggling to not be so extremely ticked off about this. It seems to me Diesel Care did no testing before sending the pump out. I was hoping it was just a vacuum leak I could fix, but apparently not. I'm still hoping to not have to re-do the entire thing.
How does it turn off? I mean, is it an electrical signal that turns off the injection pump? Is it vacuum? It seems it is getting worse. Pulling the pink wire off the pump doesn't cause it to turn off either. I sent an email to Diesel Care last week but haven't heard from them yet. There are two...
I asked Diesel Care specifically and stated that I sent them a J code. Their response was that they rebuild the same pump they receive. My pump model is DB2 (or DB2829) 4521. According to this screenshot from another website, it shows the 4521 pump model on CUCV specifically.
Took the truck for it's first drive. It seems to accelerate slower, but I have the pump timing low so I'm not sure if that would be the cause. The engine still struggles to turn off when compared to before. I thought that was caused by the timing too high. At the same time, it seems to...
Replaced all the coolant port-hole gaskets and while flushing the coolant, replaced the thermostat just because it was cheap and the coolant was drained. ACDelco thermostat part #14077122. I also backed the timing off a little more. It's about a 1/16th to the left of the mark and seems to be...
I backed the timing down a bit. The marks are just a hair to the left now. It seems to be starting and turning off much easier. I let it idle for a bit to get the new water circulating but I'm going to try backing it off just another hair to see how that does. I'm also considering changing the...
The J-code intake manifold gaskets came with injection pump gasket, but not the crossover manifold gaskets. Fortunately, the auto store had them in stock. I had a couple radiator hoses laying around so decided this was good time to flush the antifreeze, replace hoses and gaskets. Of course, I'm...
I did not change the lift pump. I'm letting the engine cool down for a bit. I didn't see any leaks, but it did idle for a while and it's a little hot to the touch at the moment. I think I'm seeing some antifreeze leaking out of the passenger side of the aluminum crossover pipe. I cranked the...
Yes, the two green wires are connected to the outside posts, fast idle on driver side and pink wire connected on the middle. I just started and turned off about three-four times. Seems to be working ok at the moment.
It's running! But, now it won't turn off! yikes! Suggestions? Yes, Intake manifold is off. [edit] Ok, it finally turned off. I had rev'd it up a bit shortly before turning it off, came in started this message and let the truck idle, went back out and finally turned off. It kinda sputtered out...
The nuts and bolts are very clean. The wires are bolted to the bolt very tight, but the bolt is not tight in the head. I didn't know if I should keep screwing it down in further. It seems there is no bottom in the hole.
Thanks. I still have the glow plugs in. I've been cranking and then taking a break for several minutes, then cranking again. The ground bolt was really hot, but it seems to only get hot after cranking. I take this as an indication of the starter getting hot. I was beginning to wonder how long of...
So the plan is to start the truck today. I don't have the drain plug yet, but I screwed the broken one in hoping it will work. I hammered a phillips screwdriver into the back of it so I can screw it in and out. I've taken the three ground wires that were connected to a bolt on the intake...
Well, if not for the things I broke during the re-assembly, I would have been able to start the truck yesterday. Got the alternator fixed today. It cost $11. Found a great shop. I think I'll have him rebuild my starter too. I still have to tap it with a hammer on occasion. The shop is Metroplex...
