The new EPA fuel cans suck!!!

Visit garage and estate sales. I've picked up some older cans that way that were still in good condition.

Looking for recommendations on Injection Pump rebuild in the Ft. Worth area

I little off topic, but I'm trying to remove the valve covers while I have the opportunity and paint them. I've got the bolts out, but the covers are glued down tight with what appears to be orange RTV sealant. I've tried hitting them with a rubber mallet but don't want to dent them. I haven't...

how hard do you drive it

With 33" tires, 60 seems like a sweet spot, but 65 seems ok. I've gone 75 for a few miles at a time and had it up to 80 once or twice too, but I like my truck too much to keep doing that.

    New radiator

How many gallons are in the old radiator? I'm changing hoses this weekend and would like to re-use my coolant. I just want to make sure I have a bucket big enough to catch it all.

Looking for recommendations on Injection Pump rebuild in the Ft. Worth area

So, I was wondering about re-connecting the fuel lines to the injection pump. It was a challenge to get them loose because it was hard to get any leverage on the pump without bending the other lines. Is there a trick to getting them re-connected? Just checking to see if there are additional...

Hopefully I haven't screwed something up! I got off at 5pm and went straight to work on the truck. CUCVRUS, thank you for the guidance! I hope you're available when the pump gets back! I'm thinking I might paint valve covers in the meantime. I'm not certain, but I think valve covers are...

Got the pump off. This is where I'm at (pics). Is there anything more I need to remove or do to it? I tried wiping some of the grime off, but it's pretty caked on there. How clean do I need to get it? :) I used a silver Sharpie marker to circle where the location of the washers/bolts that held...

Looking for recommendations on Injection Pump rebuild in the Ft. Worth area

I called Diesel Care and Performance and spoke to Hope. They will be sending me a shipping label and I plan on shipping out the IP tomorrow morning! Cost is $275 +$12 for the return shipping cost.

Ok, this is where I'm done for the night. Is there a way to wiggle the spider out from under this line? I traced it in red and circled the bolts on the valve covers in green. It's dark now, but I'm happy with the progress made so far. I'll try to get home early tomorrow to pull it out. Time for...

Looking for recommendations on Injection Pump rebuild in the Ft. Worth area

Holy smokes, I will have ratchet wrenches before I re-install. I've managed to get the IP loose, but there is a hard vacuum line that is preventing me from taking the spider off the engine. The line was connected to the top of this plastic part that is attached to the IP. The hard line runs down...

Attached pics of the two 13mm bots and one 15mm nut that I removed.

It also looks like there is a metal fuel or vacuum line that I have to remove before I can take the spider off. It connects to the rubber hose in the circle picture I posted previously, runs down the passenger side valve covers and to the back somewhere. I don't think I can pull the spider out...

Looking for recommendations on Injection Pump rebuild in the Ft. Worth area

I have two 13mm bolts off the driver side of the pump (also connected to the fuel line bracket) and one 15mm nut on the front. I'm not sure if I'm missing another 13mm bolt, but I can't get the pump to budge. I tried tapping it with rubber hammer, but not sure how hard I should tap since not...

Looking for recommendations on Injection Pump rebuild in the Ft. Worth area

I had to go back to Ace Hardware and exchange the 24mm socket for a deep well. :) I got the three bolts out though the oil tube hole. I'm only seeing three more bolts that appear to be connected to the injection pump. Two on the driver side, and one on the front. Does that sound right? [edit]...

Looking for recommendations on Injection Pump rebuild in the Ft. Worth area

Ok, I've got the throttle cable off and I now know what the be-jesus clip is. The rubber grommet is a little ripped on one side. Is this a replaceable part? It was ripped before I touched it, so not my fault! :) What is this plastic part connected? I'm not quite sure how to remove it. It looks...

Looking for recommendations on Injection Pump rebuild in the Ft. Worth area

I am very thankful for the help and encouragement! I quoted where I'm at right now with this. Not sure what you mean on some things. "Jam some tape or cloth on the end of the 13mm socket". I'm not sure what you mean by that. Where is the main engine crank shaft bolt? Is that where the fan is? I...

Looking for recommendations on Injection Pump rebuild in the Ft. Worth area

This is where I left off yesterday. Fuel filter housing and intake manifold removed. This project keeps growing the deeper I dig. I originally thought I just had a leak at the filter housing. Any suggestions on cleaning the surface for a new manifold gasket without getting water in the engine? I...

Hey, thanks for that recommendation. I'll check it out. I'm looking into how to remove the injection pump. Hoping to start trying to pull it tomorrow. It's the unknown thank makes this project intimidating.

Looking for recommendations on Injection Pump rebuild in the Ft. Worth area

I began the project thinking it was a simple leak. Replace some rubber hoses, and move on. But, after removing the intake manifold, seeing how dry the hose is and how wet the injection pump is on the throttle cable side, I'm guessing my pressure leak is coming from it. When I bought the truck...
