Hey Bill W, so your the guy with that truck- I used the pix as go-by's for my project.
Great looking truck. I was going to bed mount the gun, but wanted a Radio back there. Nice job on yours.
Here is another shot of the "field modification" gun mount. Mount ties to the running...
MHCC had a great showing at the Greenville Veterans celebration and the opening of the WWII display at the Upstate Museum.
Had about 10 or so vehicles including Jamie Neal's scout car, my new WC, a slat grill, and MB, an M38, Jamie's 1/2ton command car, a deuce, a few others.
The 40 mile...
What M37dodge said... looks like rear end oil
Something you might want to check also- I had a brake shoe that hung up, or was tight, got the drum hot, which got the hub hot, which got the oil hot, which caused it to leak out a seal that otherwise was ok.
I.E. root cause was overheated drum.
sounds like a few good things to try. I looked at the exhaust manifold valve. It seems to be missing the thermal spring that makes it work. Does anyone know which way is closed? looking at it from the side, it can be in 10 oclock or 2 oclock

I'd hate to know how much I got right depending on mistakes that cancelled each other out.
I made the brackets that hold the bed backwards, but also had them on the wrong side of the cross member, so they ended up right.
That diagram of the engine helps, thanks. Oil come in above and flows top to bottom and from center out. Sock filter still seems kind of "quaint" same thing woud be accomplished by stuffing the housing full of rags.
If the engine noise isn't pre-detonation, what else might it be? Wrist...
Mostly done.... Took it for a test ride today. First one over a few miles. Went pretty well.
I have a few questions for anyone that has experience.
- oil press at operating temp is 10-15 at idle and 35-40 at speed. is this normal?
- timing is set for 2 deg atdc at idle. I am getting...
I used this pix of wc's in north africa for the orientation of the star, you can see it in the first wc. Looks like the motor pool boys over there didn't look at the TM either. They had an excuse, there being a war on and all.
I don't.......
I used this pix of wc's in North Africa for orientation of the star. looks like the motorpool boys didn't look at the TM either. I am sure they were a long way from a TM, or it was buried in the sand. I have no excuse.........
My humble opinion on markings...
I have a lot of experience with using stencils to make markings. I have tried over the years varous methods including:
Water masking
taping
die-cut masks
I have a favorite way that is quick and easy and gives decent results.
Steps
