So what is the difference between this thread and post #2 in this thread: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/salvage-yard-info/68284-m1008.html#post822856
Edit: Just saw the pricing thing. So if the OP removed the price from the title then he'd be ok?
I could be wrong, but I don't think the OP is related to the site in any way. He just found a deal on something that comes up in discussion here often and thought he'd pass along some good info?
I saw those Barstow trucks and was a little surprised myself. I've been watching for trucks in the region over the last several months and they seem to go for more like $2,500.
As cheap as you can get 'em
I don't think I've ever previewed anything I've won. If possible, by all means do it, but sometimes you just can't do it logistically. I won 3 trucks from Vegas and recently picked them up. After new batteries 2 of them fired right up. The third will take a...
Not sure how I've missed this thread in the past... good lookin restoration  I'll be following it more closely now to get some ideas for my 1009.
I know there is a 1031 with a stripped box in Moab. It used to have the PTO generator on it, but everything has been cleaned out. I wonder if the owner wouldn't want one of your extra PTO heads...
So does the 1031 box still have some equipment in it? Generator? Compressor?
One of the above posters talked about putting their 1031 box with a PTO generator on a trailer frame and using a gasser engine to turn the PTO. I guess that wouldn't be necessary if you have the Wisconsin style...
Congrats on the new truck [thumbzup] I just picked up an 84 M1009 last Tuesday from Nellis AFB near Vegas. It's my 3rd MV, but my first Blazer. 2 new batteries and it fired right up!
Anyway, the site is going through a little revamp and so the resources area is down for now. Check the link in...
I don't think those axles ever required mutilation. I remember seeing crated D60s at the local surplus yard years ago. I think they were selling for $500 or less. Where's that time machine when I need it....
Anyway, leads me to believe it was for draining and not mutilation. Just IMO [thumbzup]
I imagine it was a quick way to drain the diff before storage/sale. I've never seen them drill the hole... usually they just take off the diff cover and leave it hanging by a bolt. They've been known to drill a hole in the gas tank, oil pan, trans pan, etc to drain fluids :x
I was trying to be nice ;) He certainly wasn't the best example of GL customer service I've ever seen, but he did ok.
Front driveshaft on my 1009 is barely bent if at all. No vibes yet although I've only gone about 20mph while in 4 Hi. The rear driveshaft on the pickup truck is toast. Anything...
Yeah, this site is full of awesome info. Next steps for that dead blazer (and probably mine too) are to do the doghead relay and the resistor bypass
2 out of the 3 fired up after getting new batteries. The third is giving us a little grief. There was a little puff of smoke that came from the resistor on the center of the firewall, there was some clicking from the glow plug controller, but not a peep from the starter.
Let the fun begin
