I picked up a truck from Nellis on Tuesday :) Well, it was really 3 trucks (2 x 1009 and 1 x 1008A1) but 2 of them belong to my boss. We drove as far as Mesquite, NV on Monday night and then made the easy hour final leg to Vegas on Tuesday morning. Chris on base there at Nellis was very helpful...

Yeah, I was disappointed to see the weight. I was hoping for something a little lighter to pull behind my wrangler when I'm camping etc. M416 would be perfect... if I could find one that wasn't ridiculously priced.

I called and spoke with Michael... he was pretty helpful but unsure if he could sell the legs to anyone but the government. He certainly wouldn't sell a single unit to me as an individual. I asked him if he would consider selling a larger quantity if we got a group buy together, but he didn't...

Thanks man :beer: I had an M101A1 that was pretty easy to get around the yard and hook to my Jeep when empty, but trying to hook/unhook it when it had some gear in it was a little tricky. Something like what you linked will work awesome.

I wasn't even aware of the crank up style gear until reading another thread earlier today. From what I can tell, it looks like I missed out there :-| Is there a good aftermarket unit that people like on these? Not necessarily trying to stay original, although that would be cool...

I pulled mine home behind my Jeep wrangler. I used some magnetic trailer lights from Harbor Freight that plugged into a normal flat 4 trailer plug. That thing towed like a dream. If you use your 1008 to tow it home, you've already got a spare for either the truck or the trailer.
