    My MEP-803a experience

Something I noticed last night, the trailer has a deliver date from 1990, but the power plant was delivered in 2000. I was surprised to see them repurpose existing stock like that.

What did you do to your trailer today.

duplicate post, but it belongs here too. Finished pulling off the painters tape and riveted the ID plate back on. before: after: Next I'll add the tail lights, get it registered as is, attach the generator, distribution panel, and fuel tank. Then it'll be for sale.

That should be in a sticky somewhere. Ordered a second to keep on hand.

    MEP-803A / MEP-802A Water Temp Gauge

I used water heater elements in PVC as a closed loop from my pool cleaner pressure pump back to the pool. Temp rise was marginal, even at 16.5kw. Probably still better than sending heat into the atmosphere, but don't expect you are going to heat 20,000 gallons in a couple hours.

did some searching and came across a potential replacement. It does not have a pre-heat selector, but I can do without in FL, or add a pushbutton if needed. I figure for $15, I'd give it a shot...

    MEP-803A / MEP-802A Water Temp Gauge

i used the same deck blocks with mine, vibration inside the house is minimal to non-existent.

yea, i have a hard time paying $260 for the switch from green mountain. Going to watch ebay for a bit while I get the rest of it cleaned up.

the fuel tank would be uphill from the generator anyway, so no problems with the aux pump. that's for another day though. The immediate concern is sourcing a new S1 switch. I figure, worst case, I could do a panel and use toggles to control everything the single S1 does. Also, for the...

LOTS of discussion here about using Behr latex on MVs, I'm not worried. I shot two coats thinned 25% with windshield washer fluid(methanol). So far, two hours since the last coat, it looks great. I did hit a snag, trying to start the second generator, the main switch stem broke :(. Is that...

    My MEP-803a experience

It has just occurred to me that I may not want to have 75 gallons of fuel resting right beside my house. New plan is to mount the fuel tank behind my shed, next to my propane tank, and route the fuel line under ground to the generator with 1/2" PEX using iron/aluminum/copper pipe as risers...

    My MEP-803a experience

prepped for paint. only need to move it to the yard, wash it down one more time, let it dry, then shoot it. went to home depot after work, and got some 383 mixed up in Behr Marquee. I need to repaint the chicken coop and the generator stand, possibly my storage shed, so I'll just plan on...

pneumatic. I've got a HF compressor, which claims 10cfm @90psi. The compressor was able to run the needle scaler wide open. It did run constantly, but did not slow down. By contrast, this die grinder, rated at 3cfm ran out of oomph.

    My MEP-803a experience

Spent around 2 hours tonight flipping the lunette, removing the flaking CARC, pressure washing and degreasing. It is looking a lot better. Going to spray it, if the rain ever stops, with some olive green Behr Marquee. Plan on taping off the reflectors, then rewiring with some LED lights from...

    My MEP-803a experience

got some work done on the trailer. pulled the lights and wiring, scraped off some of the larger flakes of CARC, broke down the gladhands. Going to pull a few more things off, wire wheel the flakes, pressure wash, degrease, pressure wash again, tape off, spray with behr, and mount the generator...

rear leg still there. as far as I know, there is nothing missing from this one.

    My MEP-803a experience

I have given some thought to the weight distribution for the trailer. Since it will only carry one generator and the external fuel tank, I can mount them as I see fit. In the stock configuration, with two gensets, the weight was perfect. I'm currently planning on mounting the generator...

got the trailer in the garage. It is a LOT bigger than I remembered.

    My MEP-803a experience

not yet. Need to pull it out, mount it to the trailer, plumb in the aux tank, change fluids, upgrade lights to 12v, and add a breakbox/outlets.

    My MEP-803a experience

Ran the house on the generator for two hours today, normal loads(tv, amplifiers, AC, etc.) Didn't try to load it with everything, just that which we are likely to do in a power outage. Temp was much better, oil pressure stayed at 40#, only a slight puff of smoke when the well kicked on. Also...
