    CUCV questions.

I have a 95 buick roadmaster with a LT1 that will probably get swapped in when my 6.2 lays down.

the M1009s are cool but if your gonna run bigger tires axle upgrades are in your future!

    CUCV questions.

it depends what type of offroading your planning. I love my 6.2 and it probably runs poorer than most. I mostly crawl up ravines, hills, dry creek beds, etc. (no rocks here) It's great for this low speed, low rpm stuff I just put it in 4LO & go & it runs the same at any angle no matter how...

Pic thread? Looking for m1008's with minimal lift.

They are pretty sluggish on the bigger tires even with the lower gears. it's just a lot of weight & rotating mass for the 6.2 to spin.

Pic thread? Looking for m1008's with minimal lift.

Right now bumps will do the trick and I'm as high as I want to go. I will probably redo the front one of these days and go with 52s so when I hang them I'll move foreward 1"

Pic thread? Looking for m1008's with minimal lift.

I shackle flipped the rear but removed 4 leaves from the pack on the 1028 in my avatar then put some old 4" ranchos in the front. I think it netted about 3.5" on each end. Running 37-12.5-17 MT I can still get the fronts into the back of the front fenders even after heavy trimming @ full stuff...

    my first m1008

Like I said the bed was easy I took 14" out of the rear between the crossmembers & welded it back together. Ground it down & made a couple passes over ot with bondo, primered & rattle canned! On the inside I cut a 2' strip off the piece I removed & welded it in. In the sides I cut off the end...

    my first m1008

I would think the stock wheels with 36" 10.5-12.5 wide would be ok for this set up but you may still have to trim if you are going to flex it up. I need to lower my bumpstops to limit uptravel then I think I can keep the fronts out of the rear of the fenderwells.

    my first m1008

Like Cucvfreak said you will have clearance prolems on the dana 60 calipers. I went with 17" rims with 3.75" backspace. Your 16s will work till your tire gets so big then you may have too much backspace on the front and rub when turning. I figure I'm just shy of 4" on both ends and did have to...

Funny you should ask I do have a few but nothing too extreme. Here you go along with a pic of the shackle flip.

    my first m1008

Congrats! I found a set of used rancho 4" fronts for cheap & they flexed well under the weight of the 6.2 on my m1028 and seemed a lot easier than a 52" swap which I think is the swap you are referring to. I ended up bending one in some rough country & now cant decide whether to do the 52s or...

    Jump starting m1009

Yea you can screw around all day trying to jump that front batt but I have got them started jumping the rear batt, but if you just want to get it started jump them both!

    Fort drum gl auctions

X2 I missed the end of the auction & could not get it pulled up afterwords later to see what they did. I did buy one 90 miles away private party for $3,500 the other day!

I have good luck boosting both batteries individually at the same time.

Big Push of CUCV's now very few ...

I agree with you Billet there not at the auction like they used to be & I have to wonder how many are left. It seems like they have gone up in price on GL also.

Price of a 1008, how much is too much

Richmond I bought a 1031 from GSA last summer that had a open front diff & a 208 theres no guarantee on that either. I have had several 1028 that had the trac lok but the clutches were toast on all of them. I'm swapping out the trac lok for a detroit on the 1028 in my avatar for that reason.
