These are up in price over the past year. I have seen many MEP-002's go for $1800 - $2200 over the last few months. I haven't really watched the .016's but I am sure they are up as well.
I have purchased two units in the past year.
The first was in the spring and I wanted one real bad so...
[thumbzup] Awesome! Isn't it great to have backup right at your finger tips.
Right after getting my 002 running and hooked up our power was out for about 5 hours. Well really only about 5 minutes :naner:
I have since used it one more time for about 8 hours when the power was out. I have...
That should not be a problem. Plug it in and get some heat
I am not sure why it would be a problem as you have read. I have ran them on both my 002 & 003. I didn't use extention cords but plugged them directly into the outlet. I don't have a 016 but I would guess it is a 15 amp circuit breaker...
Thanks again!! [thumbzup] I went out this morning and made the adjustment. The screw notch was at about 2 o'clock. I turned it to 4 o'clock. That was a little to much so I went back to 3 o'clock. My knob on the control panel is now at about 11:30. Close enough for me.
I believe what coyote62ny was talking about was the neutral bond on the ground lug below the control panel. It should be taken off of the lug. The way he did it was much more elaborate that what I did. I simply removed it and wrapped the connector with good electrical tape and zip tied it out of...
I'd be interested in knowing which pot it is. My 002 has to be turned up about 90-95% of the way to get the 240v. It is working fine the way it is but if it could be adjusted I would probably do it just to make me feel better
Maybe a stupid question but did you try adjusting the voltage with the knob under and to the left a bit of the the voltage gauge? The throttle (Hz) adjustment does not adjust voltage only the hz
Awesome Job!!!
I got mine going in the last week or so but it doesn't look anything like that. Like someone mentioned earlier in the thread if it did I wouldn't want to use it.
The HZ adjustment is the throttle. It increases/decreases RPM. 60hz equals 1800RPM. Push/Pull makes large adjustment in RPM and turning the knob is fine tune to 60hs - 1800RPM
I started this machine up today for the first time when it was a little colder (about twenty eight degrees). There was white smoke for about 30-40 seconds from one of the exhaust pipes.
Could that mean I maybe have a bad glow plug in one of those cylinders?
After about 20-30 seconds it kinda...
I have an 002 doing exactly the same thing. It is fine for a little while but it climbs and when I checked it with my meter is showed 31.8 as well. It has two new batteries on it.
I've been too busy to do much but tinker getting this thing ready to start up. Finally picked up a couple batteries today and took the time to see if it would run. I ran the primer for a few minutes, glow plugs for about 30 seconds and it took right off. It ran for a minute or so and shut off...
I have Rotella in the 002 and Delo 400 in the 003, both 15-40. I have Delo to put in the 002 when I have a little time. I have run it for about 12 hours now on the oil I put in after getting it and just feel like changing it again now that it was ran a bit. The oil that is in it is real clean...
I was going to get one of these but it says Max voltage 125. I know it should not go over that but if it does I assume it will destroy it??
Our power company has been know to have a consistant voltage at times of 127-128.
When I was experimenting with load on my 002 the other day I had it running at 28-30% and 61hz. My wife started the dryer and it spiked to 105% and dropped to 58hz. Does that sound normal? I called in the house and had her shut the dryer off and it went right back to where I had it set.
I would...
Looks like I need the washer and castle nut for the fuel strainer canister.

Parts 1 & 2
I assume it is a copper washer? Any idea of the size and where to get one? Looks like the all bolt is 5/16.
As for the nut, I should be able to use a 5/16 Brass Hex Nut...
#1 They are new batteries. Dummy here, what does it mean to cook off electrolyte? Do I need to do something to correct what is going on?
ETA: I guess I am boiling the batteries? Does that mean the DC regulator is bad?
