In my experience, no! I purchased an 003 with that rating. Cleaned up the fuel tank, new oil and filters & added new batteries and it fired right up. Three glow plugs test good and one bad so I have to replace that yet.
My 002 is about 120 ft from the house. When inside you almost can't hear it unless listening for it. Outside if you are 30 ft or so away from it is no issue carrying on a conversation. Like Ike said, the noise is over rated
 Don't you love it when a plan comes together. I got my first one, an 002 going mid summer. I have used it 4 times. Like your wife mine thought I was a little crazy but she sure likes it when the power goes out.
I am not expert by any means but those should not drain the batteries just sitting there idle should they? Something has to be placing a load/draw on them to drain them.
Is it possible the batteries are not good? I'd be more inclined to think that may be the case.

According to this it is a 20kw, 60hz unit. Also like it really likes its diesel fuel. 2.1GPM
Looks like this show the TM is 12359A–OD
I googled mgm 25 generator and there other links but maybe to newer units. I do no believe...
Doesn't sound like it's near as stout as an 002. I have had my house running with the 002 and the wife fired up the dryer not realizing that she should probably have done that. It grunted for a second and then kept chugging right along. I guess I'd really need to think about the 802 before...
Did you check the voltage output?
Is it a/c or d/c voltage?
ETA: I asked about d/c voltage above not knowing whether they have any type of d/c output but thought I'd ask :shrugs:. If they do could it be something for a 12v or 24v output? Anyways, it would be good to know what is coming out of...
How many of you have these units?
How is it working for you?
Compared to the 002 & 003?
What would be a good price on one?
I'm just exploring the idea right now.
The pics I posted on Page 1 of this thread were from an 002 that was in excellent condition and said 7.1 hours. Obviously it was reset so it had more hours on it that the meter said. As you can see the one plug had rusted almost completely off before I started working on it and it broke...
Seems maybe Rock Auto is either confused when pulling stuff or there is an inventory/web issue. I just went on for the fun of it and was able to place an order for 10 CH42. I went to their home page and searched "ch42" and got the item listed below. I did everything but submit but it went...
Thanks Jerry. I just opened all 10 to be sure they were all labeled CH42 on the plug and they are. Maybe I got the last they had or maybe like they said someone just pulled the wrong ones for you guys.
Here is a photo of the big box and one of the end of a single plug
Jerry,
I am concerned and wondering now. How are your boxes labeled? As I said above the end of my box has a 182 with CH42 under it. The reason for the concern is they are the same plugs I used in my 002 and I don't recall the thread being different or being difficult in any way to get to screw...
Yes they came today. I had two here from when I bought before. They sent me the same thing. They worked the last time si I don't know now. The box end of the old ones and the ones I just received have a 182 with CH42 under that. I would have thought I would have noticed a different threat the...
You have two A/C's running? I thought it was cold down there too? No need for A/C here. Just keep the wood in the outdoor furnace and it's all good. It's right around 3 outside right now but it's 78 where I am sitting.
Thanks for the confirmation.
I just jumped on their site and ordered a 10 pack. Everything seemed to process just fine and I got an order confirmation. Last time I ordered from them it was here in 3 days so I should see them by mid week.
I'll order more seals from McMaster to have them. ETA...
Are these the right glow plugs? I ordered from here before but don't recall it saying #182 as well as ch42.
