In my experience, no! I purchased an 003 with that rating. Cleaned up the fuel tank, new oil and filters & added new batteries and it fired right up. Three glow plugs test good and one bad so I have to replace that yet.

My 002 is about 120 ft from the house. When inside you almost can't hear it unless listening for it. Outside if you are 30 ft or so away from it is no issue carrying on a conversation. Like Ike said, the noise is over rated

I am not expert by any means but those should not drain the batteries just sitting there idle should they? Something has to be placing a load/draw on them to drain them. Is it possible the batteries are not good? I'd be more inclined to think that may be the case.

Doesn't sound like it's near as stout as an 002. I have had my house running with the 002 and the wife fired up the dryer not realizing that she should probably have done that. It grunted for a second and then kept chugging right along. I guess I'd really need to think about the 802 before...

Did you check the voltage output? Is it a/c or d/c voltage? ETA: I asked about d/c voltage above not knowing whether they have any type of d/c output but thought I'd ask :shrugs:. If they do could it be something for a 12v or 24v output? Anyways, it would be good to know what is coming out of...
