So it's been a while, but I think I finally got this thing licked. With the help of all of you guys I came to the conclusion that I had a battery imbalance caused by my use of a single 24v alternator in place of the two alternator setup while still using a sizable 12v load with all of my trucks...
Does anyone know what all of these allis chalmers 4 and 6 cylinder turbo diesel engines came out of? I see them all over GL but I've never actually seen one in use in the military. I don't know anything about them, but there seems to be a lot of them and I'm sure I could come up with a good...
I apologize if you've been asked this before, but I haven't read all your threads. What is the product/procedure you use to die the dash, door, kick panels? Your results look great. Thank you.
I paid $1500 for my M1008 and I've put about another $1500 into it. I'll probably have about $4-5000 in it before I feel comfortable driving it all the time, or letting my wife drive it, but overall I think that is a pretty good deal for what I am using as a driver/work vehicle. It has been...
These guys have a lot of stuff that I've used both in and out of the service. I'm not sure if this is exactly what your looking for, but its a good site for anyone who is looking for electrical components.

That last post sounds kinda funny cause I was originally thinking of starting a new thread, but then everyone would lose out on the background here. Also, I don't know how to test the starter. It is a brand new unit that came with the truck (uninstalled) If anyone has some input on how to test...
I've got a list of modifications that may or may not be the cause of some of my troubled, but I'm thinking that I have a short somewhere in the starter circuit or a bad starter. I'll go through the problem I'm having and then list the modifications that I've done in case one of them might...
The little black BOSCH relays next to your starter relay under the dash control the GEN1, GEN2 circuits. If the right one goes bad your volt meter will no longer be in the circuit.
So I bought a new GPM from antennaclimber, I'm going to get a new set of GPs and a new GP relay. I've converted the system over to 12 volts and eliminated the resistor. While I'm waiting on installing all of that I need to figure out why the GP relay still has a constant ground. I'm...
I know it has been a while since I posted this originally, but I've tried a bunch of things to fix this problem and I still don't know for sure what is going on.
Does anyone know if it is possible that if I had one or more bad glow plugs they could drain my battery very quickly when the glow...
I haven't had my M1008 on the road long enough to get good fuel numbers, but I have a 95 G30 with a 6.5 that gets numbers similar to these if I drive it unloaded. It would be great if my 1008 with the new gears got numbers like the brochure says, but I doubt it. The civilian versions didn't...
So I said I would update after I changed my gears. Well I couldn't be happier. I put the 3.73s in the rear end and just took a drive on the interstate. I don't know my exact speed as I haven't gotten a new speedo gear yet, but I was easily keeping up with traffic as well as passing some cars...
I don't have a gear vendor over/underdrive, but I spent a lot of time looking at them and asking around. From what I've heard they are great, but they are pricey. I opted to just put 3.73s under my M1008 instead of the stock 4.56s
I know there are a lot of guys on here that think this is...
