If your lift pump is bad it may be that the IP just doesn't have the pull to get the fuel up that incline. You could check your fuel pressure from the lift pump to the IP.
do most guys pull that front driveshaft when working on the starter? it seems like its in the way of removing the whole starter unit? Or do you just work around it?
Does anyone have a pic of a properly installed gear reduction starter bracket? I've been running without the bracket and with the wrong bolts since i've had my m1008 and i decided that i need to get the proper parts in there, but yesterday i looked under the truck and couldn't quite tell exactly...
I guess I need to install that temp gauge I've had in the garage forever. I may have done some damage to my engine. I don't think so, but who knows. The idiot light may not have been working at all.
So I had a look at it in the daylight after it cooled down from the drive in this morning and low and behold... there's hardly any coolant in the whole dang thing! I can't believe it. A Month ago I had a new radiator put in at the dealer. Do you think they didn't fill it enough? I park in a...
I had a similar leak, I added a quart of that rear main seal leak fixer oil from the auto parts store... leak fixed. It'll probably come back some day, and when it does I'll get another bottle of leak fixer stuff from Napa. If it finally can't be fixed chemically I'll think about replacing...
I have Progressive Ins. They just asked me what the value of the vehicle is and they gave me a full coverage quote based on what I told them. I pay about $150/month for 4 vehicles, 2 on full coverage, one is 30 years old and I valued it at $10k. I asked what would happen if I wrecked it and...
I drive my M1008 every day. I replaced the radiator a few weeks ago so that may have something to do with it, but this morning the heat would just blow cold air. I reached under the hood and both heater hoses were cold. Is it possible this is just a bubble in the system somewhere? Someone...
I put 3.73s in my M1008, best thing I ever did. I did the read myself with some junkyard parts, cast me about $150. I haven't done the front yet, but I plan on bringing it to a shop. I've been quoted at around $1000 to finish the job. I probably won't get to it till winter though. With my...
Just last week my USMC unit ordered a new engine for a HMMWV that had a bad IP. The excuse the MT guys made was that the engine had an oil leak and some blow by, but I didn't see either a leak or anyone do any real diagnostics on the engine. I'm not complaining as I have to use the truck, but...
Sounds like a decent idea to me. I don't know if these guys were kidding about gas being dangerous and I didn't get the joke, but any carburetor is spraying gas down into the throat when you depress the throttle cold so I'd say a little bit on a rag is pretty harmless. Heck, I've been around...
Well I don't own a generator, or any other vehicle that would possibly accept an old diesel motor except my M1008.
It sounds like it would be tough to do, but who knows, maybe a good AC engine will turn up down at Ft Carson at a price I can't refuse then I'll have to give it a shot.
The thing...
The ones I've seen lately are Model 10000 SN120489, SN120615 does that help? I'd be interested to know what kind of power they make and what sort of bolt pattern they have, or if they are even capable of being mated to a vehicular transmission?
I have been in the market for an engine to put in my cucv. That was why I brought it up, but it was really just a theoretical idea to see if anyone knew anything about them. I don't know enough about the engines to say yes or no yet, but if I got my hands on one of those brand new ones right...
No one asked you to read the thread. This is exactly the kind of thing that has turned off many people I know to this site. If you write an innocent question based on pure curiosity in the wrong forum you get your head bitten off. At the end of the day this is a hobby that is supposed to be...
