It would be really impressive if someone fabbed up a pto driven snow blower on a CUCV. I've only seen them on tractors and the huge trucks that clear the mountain passes here in Colorado. A pickup with a snow blower up front would be pretty awesome.
I do stupid stuff like that pretty regularly, doesn't stop me from trying again though. I'm pretty excited to hear how this all works out as i would like to do the same to my 1008. Thanks for keeping the thread alive with updates. I'm really looking forward to the pictures.
I brought my M1008 to the emissions testing place here in Denver and after the truck passed (on the first try!) I asked the guy if the Dyno also read HP and torque. He said it did read peak numbers, but not the whole curve.
So I asked if he would run my truck again just to get some new numbers...
I spoke with some friends of mine in Barstow and the GL rep in Ft Carson and they all aid the same thing. The HMMWVs were all getting sold to other countries because the Government gets about $30,000 for these things when they sell them to Georgia or some such place. So it works to the...
I know this was already stated, but it deserves to be said twice. I am running one of those replacement aluminum heater cores right now and it SUCKS!! As soon as I have a couple of bucks I'm going to get my original rebuilt and reinstalled.
I get what you're saying here. I've been told that a 4L80E is the way to go. What do you think about that? I've also thought about putting a Gear Vendors Overdrive behind my TH400. What do you think about those mods?
I've got 3.73s in my M1008 and I am very happy with that choice. I don't have overdrive, but I can still cruise the highway pretty easily. I've had as much as 1500lbs in the back and have not had any issues. Aside from the gear change my truck is more or less stock and I am very happy with the...
So what is the brand name and everything? Did you end up moving the filter to the suction side of things? That looks like a pretty nice setup, I'd like the details because I'd like to copy it.
This is just out of curiosity, are there any of these things still around? If I just cut that port out of my harness would it hurt anything? I wouldn't mind keeping the port if I thought I could find a tester around somewhere. Has anyone ever seen one come up on GL?
Now that all sounds like some good advice. Instead of using the fast idle solenoid to move the throttle maybe there is a 12 volt electro-mechanical servo I could rig up that would have the strength to just move the throttle. I'm really getting attached to the idea of a switch for this function...
My intention here is to be able to get the truck up to temp faster in the winter as well as creating a fast idle setting for long periods of idle where it is best to keep the oil pressure up and or when I am using a power inverter to power some electric appliance.
I am really interested in the...
In the Marines our Oshkosh trucks had an electric high idle switch and our HMMWVs had a manual throttle lock cable that you could pull out and lock in place to hold the engine rpm at the desired level. Has anyone rigged up either of these in a CUCV? The switch would be the coolest, but I think...
Thanks for all the info. I still am not certain what type of warmer I am going to use, but I appreciate the information. I'll probably make a call on one of these in the next couple of weeks.
I was about to install a freeze plug type engine block heater this weekend when I thought of some questions that I needed answered before I get into this.
-Has anyone used a heater hose type engine warmer instead of the freeze plug mounted unit, and what was your opinion of it? They seem much...
