So a friend of mine picked up an exceptionally clean M1008 from Kansas last week. I've been working with him to try to get it running, but we are having some trouble. The truck turns over smoothly with new batteries. The glow plug system is working perfectly with new glow plugs and appropriate...
I'm going to go to a different parts house and see what they say. Sounds like that O'rielly just didn't have anyone who knew their stuff.
Thanks for the help.
I did find that one while searching for M1008 Brakes, but unfortunately the brake system has more than just rear shoes. Is there anyone one here who has actually replaced all of the wear parts in their brake system? Maybe even someone who doesn't take a condescending attitude with every question...
There are a variety of axles and brake options available for the K30 with the largest in their computer being a Dana 44, not a Dana 60. I assume the brakes are not the same for the two different axles?
I went down to my local parts store for brakes for my M1008 and they had no idea what brakes to get for me. I told them the VIN, that didn't help, I told them that its a Dana 60 and a Corporate 14 bolt, didn't help, I told them to look it up as a K30, that didn't help.
I don't know what to...
I don't tow much, but I regularly put about 1000 lbs in the bed. My 1008 doesn't even notice it. Mine is still naturally aspirated, but I have 3.73 gears that I swapped into mine for the purpose of better drivability. I regularly get 20 mpg+ unloaded and mixed in town and highway driving.
I have a 1985 M1008. I've never messed with the timing at all, but lately I've become concerned that it is possibly too advanced as there is a lot of diesel rattle and I don't know if I'm being paranoid or if it is really bad timing. It seemed to get better when I added some sea foam to...
My suspension on my 1008 is starting to make a lot of noise, especially at slow speed in parking lots and what not. I'm assuming that it is caused by worn rubber bushings, although I'm having a hard time pinpointing where the noise is coming from. Does anyone know of a complete suspension kit...
Sounds like you've either got a lot of blow by in a worn out lower end of your engine, or a stuck cdr valve, or both. I'd change out the cdr and see what happens. They're about $20 or $30 on ebay.
Not a pro, but that is my 2 cents.
So lets see some pics of this 1009. Looks pretty bad ass from your profile pic.
GPrez, that is the best signature line I've read on this forum... and very appropriate.
Orielly had the civy controller at $30, on the shelf at my local store. I haven't checked the civy manual yet, but 5 wires are 5 wires. I don't think I would try to integrate the civy version into the old wiring harness, but someday I am thinking I am going to rewire my whole truck as the stock...
Two questions guys, and thank you for the replies ahead of time. I searched both of these topics and didn't come up with much in the way of specific answers.
1. Can the short injectors be used in my 6.2? I've been thinking about this as I am collecting parts to put a 6.5 turbo on my M1008 and...
I'm a commercial printer, and it occurred to me that I could do a nice job of printing TMs on nice paper if people were interested in owning a hard copy of the books. I haven't taken the time to figure out how much they would cost, but if people are interested I will. They could have a variety...
I'm not a pro, but I have always lived by the rule that anything above 20 is good at idle, and anything around 40-60 is good at speed. I've never had a failure.
These turbos are cheap as heck. Has anyone built a setup for their CUCV with one of these things? What would you all think about trying to do just that? They go for only $180 new with a one year warranty...
I used the replacement and it sucks. It puts out about half the heat of the stock piece. If I was you I would take my original in to a radiator shop to see if they can repair it.
