Hi all, this crane was used in the seventies, mounted on the Pershing 1A missile trailer, M790. It was self contained and used to assemble (mate) the missile parts. May have been manually hand-pump operated.
TIA
The engine likes veggie oil, but if not used up, it leaves a mess in the fuel tank. The pump has been running at reduced capacity for a while and I finally took the tank off for a good clean-up.
There was still about 10 gallons of fuel in the tank, a mix of biodiesel, diesel and veggie oil...
My son Adrian and Kelly (gf) visited for a couple of days and got a chance to drive the 757 a bit.
Among other things, I measured the turning circle it made with the inter-bogie drive shafts removed and it was about 65 ft, 15 to 20 ft less than TM specified 82 ft with them installed. I remove...
Constantly in search for low cost projects to keep me busy, being able to switch off the alternator entered my mind. Particularly useful when a truck like the deuce can run without batteries.
Case in point, when we picked up my son's deuce last year from GL, it had no batteries, but was jump...
Spent a couple of hours last night without success trying to find the specifications for this rectifier (diode) used in the 100 amp alternator.
Never got beyond the NSN or part number. Any help would be appreciated.
NSN 2920-00-114-3370 or 11646895.
TIA
Been working on this off and on for about a year, simply tired of the problems with lead acid batteries, poor cold weather performance, trickle charging, maintainers that fail not to mention poor contact burning battery studs etc.
Yesterday I started the truck on the LA's and charged the nicads...
In order to set an accurate RPM while charging batteries, I cut a tent rope tensioner into a spacer to jam under the "Throttle" control grip. Without it, the RPM was either to high or too low. No biggie, just thought it may be useful in general. Ideally a throttle control with vernier control...
Thought I could make use of the fuel burning heater when it got hot outside also, as a fan, but the idea has stalled out.
This goes back a year or so and when I noticed the thread about the nifty fans earlier today, figured that it may be appropriate to mention.
The idea was to use the blower...
A radio operator with the Pershing 1A days in the '70s, stationed in Germany, Calvin ("Trapper") stopped by for a visit during the week. He was tickled pink at a chance to drive the old 757, which was very familiar to him, but had never driven while in service.
We took the truck for a 2-mile...
Having made the unpleasant discovery that my 10KW generator suffer from a short circuit between two of its windings, T2, T5 to T8, T11, I wondering how this can happen. Perhaps some of the electrical heavyweights, Isac, Speedemon and others can help explain.
This equipment is extremely well...
Starting to work on my shorted stator winding problem, I'd like to point out that there is a problem with the suggested continuity test with what's shown in the diagrams.
The procedure according to TM 5-6115-275-35 wants you to test for continuity between pins 3 to 6, 8 to 12, 7 to 10, 1 to 4...
Hoping that there is an obvious answer to this; why would the engine bog down to a point of stalling when the field flash switch is toggled? Holding the switch for just a second or so is all it takes.
1) I'm not happy with the phase/voltage selector switch action, but it seems to work although...
Checked the compression ratio on the 10KW genset engine this morning and measured 4.5:1 on both "instrument panel side" cylinders, will check the others later, but at 4.5:1, it may explain why the engine is hard to start...
According to the references I have, it's supposed to be 6.8:1.
In the process of checking out my Sun Electric LVR-3A tester I found out that I'm short one of the test leads, the fairly heavy gauge Red "C3" cable in the picture below.
Would anybody have one for sale?
TIA
Well it finally happened...again...no AC output. Apparently a regulator failure. When I received the genset from Kenny, 5-6 years ago, there was no output and I replaced the power transistor in the regulator, which restored output. It has been running fine ever since, until today when I had...
Short notice, will be leaving in a couple of hours heading for Eastover, SC to help Adrian get his first M35 home.
It "starts and runs" according to GL, so we'll see, loading lots of tools and supplies. Don't know the details of the sale, but he got all necessary papers from DMV yesterday for...
Looking for a straight section of the exhaust pipe with the flange portion in good condition...don't care about the rest of it.
Need to custom make a longer version for my 8x8 after I realized that the muffler apparently slows down the turbo response time. It uses the 3-1/2" O.D. pipe.
TIA
