Well there isn't really a metal work/fab/repair forum and it's not exactly body work.. but I had some cross member bends to take care of on the trailer.
Probably caught by a piece of oversized equipment when unloading (otherwise center boards would be inplace)
Used screw binders/chains to...
I did two parades this weekend and ironically, was the only one displaying the flag in acordance with "The Flag Code".
United States Flag Code | The American Legion
Growing up, all "The Americans" we saw locally were from RAF Weathersfield - used by USAF 819 REDHORSE - so I guess somewhere that red horse driving a bulldozer struck a chord!! I do like dozers too.
Oh.. and in my line of work, I enjoy the horses more than most of the owners!!!
There is stenciling on the 5th wheel slide for positioning both M870 and M172, TM lists both as well. Winch on rear also specifically required for 870.
... and for anyone interested in this 'restoration' - yes, you can put me in the "rivet counters" pigeonhole. Agreed, the brakes are small by modern standards, yes the Dayton wheels/hubs are a relic of a by gone era, yes the tyre size is uncommon.

Fill hub with gear oil before second wheel put on - a must unless hubcaps have center bung (red cap) - Last axle on drivers side, last pic.
All spiffey with new seals, bearings, tyres, tubes, flaps and blasted drums, hubs and rims.
Checking for runout. Spun by hand with calibrated stick! Then...
Got to play with someone elses toys this week. [and felt I had to resurect one of my favourite threads]...
M983 with fifth wheel pulled and a M936 body dropped in its place. 1st drive of a HEMTT...

This is similar to how it was in service, but I got it w/o the lube unit.
Stuck a 'red' diesel tank on it for farm tractors to get decent deal with delivery.
But today I added a rack for my petrol Jerry cans, which I have for 'gas' engines; lawn mower, small genny etc.
Yes... I have...
Yeah..... tough work. I found a great local guy with a big mobile set up and a load of the "old tyme" tools who was ok with breaking them down for me. Came back a couple of weeks later to mount all the new tyres n flaps after I'd blasted and painted the rims.
US wreckers in WWII (M1A1 Ward la France and Kenworth) had a forward red flashing lamp (rear half was a siren), made by the "SirenLite Co" surprisingly, mounted behind the purpose shaped grille on the drivers side fender.
They were identical to period fire trucks except for being unchromed.
