Like DavidB56 said, there are loads of bolts to use. I made this for a M931. Since a tractor has little overhang, positioning braces from the frame is not possible so I picked up the nut on back side of the pintle bolt and used the lift/tie down shackles for a quick detatch solution.

FMCSA kicked this can down the road 2 years ago as most of the states weren't ready to impliment it, however there should still be the allowance for an individual driver to process a couple (or 3 or 4??) learners through their test without having to go to a mandated school (that must operate to...
... beat me to the question!! and whiffletree is on backwards - must have had Soldier B assist hooking it up rather than use the crane hook and the whiffletrees loose 'staple' to position it.
Do you not yet have a towbar? ... I'd wait untill you have one, then you'll have all the info you need - not least of which, the unwieldy nature of it and how heavy/awkward it is to manhandle, which may shape your location decision.
Put mine on the front bumper (916A1 - tractor). Like it ready for where it would be used for towing my truck, or could manouver to place near casualty. Besides, I don't have a bed to slide it under.
Features include 'O' rings to retain socket head bolt when clamp released, cable teathers to be added, will use holes at front of brackets/clamps.
Black tape 'pads' to isolate/protect paint. QUESTION to gulf veterans... should I paint towbar sand?
Zero permanent modifications to factory...
In honour of John who passed recently, I'm gonna put my latest M916A1 mod here so as to refresh all the great work he did...
A little nose jewelry - design, fab and install:
I thought that 'period' appropriate type upgrades/mods would have some CNC looking features, so I manually added the...
I'm looking forward to a 'flying visit'. Heading down "O'dark 30" Sat am for the day.
Can bring for sale :-
Med heavy towbar $150. (no feet)
Large snatch block $75. (3/4"~5\8" cable)
USMC WWII water jerrycan - center flip top $105
AAR ISU60/90 shelf backets $20 (set of 4)
I follow'ish how the factory set up is - I was looking for the right way to use type 31 batteries as an alternative to 4 x 6TL's - do I squeeze 4 in there and get new cables so I can wire the posts the same as factory (posts will be in different physical locations) or is there a way to use just...
... but do you need 12V and if so, how did you get it? The 916A1 needs both. Pilling 12V off of one battery will then unbalance the loading of the pair - pressumably.
6TL's are hard to come by and silly money. What are the viable options for 12/24 series/parallel ?
Factory layout. Cables are very specific lengths so would have to recable if going with 4 "civi" batteries.
24V only as in M809 series.
