Looks decent..........
From these bigger pix you can see the bed was from an "A2C" (due to the hinges remaining from where they took the bed rails off).
I say it isn't an original tank....
If you look at the back of the M49/M50, the tank ends well aft of the rear tires (not actually the tank, but the housing for the plumbing, etc.). Also, the lower portion of the tank/body will look like the bed of an M35, or the bed of an M34 (depending on if...
Should be a 24v lead acid battery......the same as on some aircraft (C-130, C-141, KC-135, etc.). That is usually where our batts. that failed load tests went to....
I don't know what the retrofit was about though.........does yours have square light sets? I have seen newer ones w/Kubota...
IMHO, the following truck is awesome (with 9 x 20s) but I do love the look of the 7.5s. Maybe the owner is a member, and can chime in.......either way the CCKW is a good looking truck. The "model" is my 4 year old daughter......I'm trying to boost the SS membership!!!!
The slow part of an A10 is a good thing (I guess unless you are the pilot). Their slow speed/ low fuel burn allows them to have a phenominal loiter time, which if you are a JTAC (or in the presence of a JTAC), that is a good thing!!
Everyone has their favorite aircraft, but I tell my guys...
Encase the valves/plumbing, ensure they can't disable or empty it.
Strange question back........is that enough water to make a big difference? I guess every bit helps.....but.....
What is the story with that grille, what year is the truck? I thought GM stopped with that setup (grill/headlights) in the late 70s......was that an export only setup?
Maybe I don't get out much, but I've never seen one like that!
Thanks Neil......I had some "similar" ideas, but didn't figure it would turn out that well, it almost looks like it was ordered that way!!
I'll spare you (and me:roll:) the details of my plan.......just wanted say it looked good!
OK, can't resist a dumb question........from everything I've read the early 915s were made by AM General.
So why do they have CCC on the grille, is that as in the Crane Carrier Corp.? Just curious......
The 141 was not past its "safe" life. As with any aircraft they needed maintenance dollars, that were diverted for the C-17. The only way the C-17 could be funded was to claim the 141 was having issues (much like what went on with the A-6 and now the KC-135). That was the beginning of the end...
