    M-880's in Air Force

    My active duty unit had a 4x4, 1 ton, crew cab Dodge, but it wasn't an 880. Early to mid eighties model, camo paint job, but but definitely a stripped down civi special. No radio, etc. Got a little tweaked during an airdrop run bad. We still used it.........it was a tough truck.

    Bridge truck on 53's

    Looks good right now! Especially compared to how it used to look. Kind of "Zil" ish.........It really visually sets it apart from any other MXXX trucks out there. Just my opinion.....now seeking shelter...........fire away!:smile:

    A buddy of mine just sold one in very good condition (no rust, faded paint, tires unknown condition) for $450. He inhereted it and just wanted to get rid of it, I felt he could have done better.......

    Is this a C-47 or DC-3?

    It is a DC-3. C-47s had the large rear cargo door. Stronger load floor, and landing gear too. Those 3 items were the big difference.

    Exterior Paint - White CUCV???

    The CUCvs we used Air Force wise were either tan or green. However, we did have non GSA 3/4 or 1 ton 4 x 4 Chevys that were blue or other colors. They weren't CUCVs, just off the shelf Chevys. Further, the UN paint jobs I saw overseas where distinct in that it got painted white if it didn't...

    RE: DO IT..... These were powered by Nissan diesels, not sure of the trans. One thing I am sure of is they led a rough life.......towing ground equipment not very far, very slowly.......(at least at Charleston AFB, SC they did....)
