Let's Discuss Ways to Increase Power Output

this has been discussed many times my friend, once at least by me. The bottom line is this, the head gaskets and head itself can't really handle much more...as you noted 22:1 is awfully steep. Also, as you mentioned by the time you did all of this, it WOULD be cheaper to drop in a cummins. I...

    Lift Block Dimensions

Since the trailer axle is round and the truck axles are square, is anyone using a block on the bottom of the U-bolts to better mate up to the truck axle? Not a lift block, but more of a space block so the U-bolts seat better....just curious.

All you Deuce bobbers, need M105 landing gear

I have one too if AL isn't too out of the way!

    Farewell to the Deuce

Dave, if you want to trade any parts let me know. I need a solid hardtop and would trade my gun ring modded hardtop even up. If you want that crazy looking cargo bow mod I have, let me know, the entire bed is going to the scrapyard unless somebody says they want it prior to me finding a torch...

    Bobbing Questions

Here's a quick question from this very old thread. Why can't one simply cut the trailer down and weld the parts of trailer frame under the deuce frame? Seems like it would be the easiest way to get the height right..and no drilling of new holes anywhere in the deuce frame.... Maybe I'm...

    Successful recovery...sort of...

They are air ASSISTED hydraulic brakes. I know the ford medium duty trucks from the 90's had the same thing...(not sure about now because I haven't driven one in that long). when the air pressure is up, I was actually quite surprised how well the deuce stopped.

    Successful recovery...sort of...

Had a chance to look at the deuce again today following the troubleshooting tree. Oil pressure voltage was 6.72...time to replace the gage. Ordered 3 new belts and a gage today from OD Iron. Hopefully I'll have her battle ready as soon as the parts get here!

    Least expensive singles and tires?

whats the modification process that needs done for it to be right? I'm assuming simply redrilling the new lug pattern wouldn't be the right way to do it. Offset need changed?

    Least expensive singles and tires?

OK, guess i should clarify...by me asking for guidance on what rim was cheapest to buy, I should have stated that the stock rims I already have are not the ones I am looking to buy again.... I would prefer a wheel that has never been accused (and convicted) of cutting anyone in half. So, which...

    Least expensive singles and tires?

I have found several threads relating to singles and tires, but any idea who is gonna be least expensive for 4 single rims and 4 395 tires? Just need a little guidance with prices for all these folks. Thanks again!

    Successful recovery...sort of...

scrapman, Yeah, I have a bit of experience troubleshooting, albeit on helicopters and not on old trucks, but the principals remain the same...start cheap and work toward the expensive! I am hoping its a sending unit or the gauge itself sticking, etc etc. As soon as I know, I'll post my...

    Successful recovery...sort of...

Sorry Greg, Yes it is a two line trailer. I recovered it today, so I am now 100% on my initial project. Gonna try to find the compressor belt tomorrow from somewhere, and then work the oil psi issue. After that, the real work begins!

    Successful recovery...sort of...

Yep, I did a ton of stuff on this recovery I would have preferred not doing, but it simply could have been no other way at the time. You can armchair quarterback it if you'd like, but it was a situation I did the best with what was available to me at the time...anyway.... The truck still...

    Successful recovery...sort of...

Howdy all, So I drive 4 hours up to Huntsville and picked up my deuce and an M105 Trailer, my first of each. First I'll talk about the truck...(sorry, no pictures at this time, in a hurry, but they will follow) The truck started right up, purred like a kitten actually. After picking up the...

Getting fuel out of underground tank??

I'm not sure of your set up, but my old house had a fuel tank in the basement...if it were me I'd just fill up my jerry cans in the basement and haul them up the stairs to fill up the truck...if that is an option anyway...

    Bobbed tire size

Clint, Where do the 16's rub and what could be done about it other than adding 8 inches of lift like is common opinion? I would like to keep the truck as low as possible, while still having maximum ground clearance. Thanks for your response.

    Bobbed tire size

Not to hijack this thread, but I think these questions are valid to this post. I see the vast majority of bobbed deuces running the 53in tires have no lift at all. (with a couple exceptions of course.) I am assuming there are clearance issues there, but my question is, where are the tires...

    Bobbed Costs 5ton vs Deuce...

well there is a balance I want to maintain...and a CUCV tips the scale in the wrong way. If I was going for all out performance, I'd just buy a jeep with a rock crawler suspension and call it good. I want a deuce or a 5 ton...just the better of the two.

Awesome post. I needed something like this!

    Bobbed Costs 5ton vs Deuce...

I doubt I'll be driving it long enough distances for it to matter a whole lot...the main reason for the 6bt would be a whole lot more power and (I think) a little less weight to boot...
