What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

The SM465's fourth gear and the THM400's third gear are both 1.00:1, so unless you plan on rock crawling with its low first gear, why is this considered an upgrade?

Sockets aren't bad, already done two on my truck. Just need good wire strippers and snips, and some correctly gauged butt connectors, or whatever your connector preference is. And I always crimp connectors with channellocks but whatever you have that crushes really well. Electrical upgrades...

I think he is right. Found a simple drop calculator to double check. http://www.calculator.net/voltage-drop-calculator.html?material=copper&wiresize=1.296&voltage=12&phase=dc&noofconductor=1&distance=10&distanceunit=feet&amperes=200&x=24&y=23

http://www.offroaders.com/tech/12-volt-wire-gauge-amps.htm seems to indicate that 200A can go through a 6ga wire up to 10'.

One of the relays under the dash by the starter relay can fail and stop the voltmeter, might check those. Right over the diagnostic port if you're not familiar with the starter relay.

Plaza Tire doesn't carry Goodyears, so I ended up going with the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 on some repainted wheels I bought from Hillbilly Wizard. They're pretty nice so far, and look great. The black rims really help the look of the truck, compared to the previous rust color.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I did fix my sticking parking brake recently. Rebuilt the entire rear left drum this time, all with ACDelco hardware from RockAuto and Amazon. Wasn't too bad, I guess I've done enough drum brakes to be kind of getting the hang of it. Vise grips are so useful. The parts to do this...

Should correct 'starter solenoid' to 'starter relay' where applicable too.

How can you install a civvy 12v socket if the ashtray is bolted shut? And the ashtray itself makes a great storage area for a 12v socket Y adapter. So I have two 12v sockets in my truck now.

Just take 63 south out of rolla and keep your eyes on the right when you get near the end of town, past walmart and all that.

The CUCV brakes, being hydraulically boosted, will lock with little effort when operating correctly.

That almost looks like a joke. Do you leave the pedal down while starting it?

The way I understand it, straight pipes only help a naturally aspirated diesel since a turbo has so much back pressure the muffler is insignificant.

LMC has a hood liner to help muffle the diesel clack, without affecting the minimalist feel in the cab area. Been on my list of upgrades for a while.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

The people who park alongside a trailer doing 75mph without finishing a pass could use a little 'hard lesson' I think. They would think twice about sitting there if they'd ever been alongside a blowout. I was once, I was asleep and I thought someone had discharged a shotgun. Also, recently I...
