    Draining rear battery

Just got a $200 gift card for Amazon from work, what a coincidence. Thinking about not bothering trying to rebuild it myself now and just getting this alternator from Amazon, and wondered if anyone has heard of Rare Electrical before. They don't seem to list a location on their website but...

    Draining rear battery

I am currently letting the battery sit after having been charged, unplugged from anything, until I can get back to it. So I'll see if it's losing charge internally somehow this weekend probably. Haven't added any aftermarket stuff yet. Don't know of any Fleet Farms, we have Rural King which...

    Draining rear battery

Yeah, I was wondering if the alternator could be failing causing the belt to squeal because it's offering more resistance than it should. That's why I mentioned that. But since it seems to smooth out fairly quickly I haven't worried about it too much. Doesn't seem like a little resistance at...

    Draining rear battery

Haven't rebuilt one before, probably something I could tackle. I'll be sure to probe the alternator first for continuity. Thanks for the links.

    Draining rear battery

I'm having a strange problem with my rear battery. It was at the mechanic's and when I got it back the charge on it was about 8 volts. The truck would still start, barely, and the mechanic said he had started it probably 20 times over a few days. When the truck starts cold, Gen 2 has had a...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Disassembled and fixed (I think) a stuck vacuum regulator valve. The metal parts inside the valve are a bit corroded, so it might not last long, but it was stuck fully open. Now it closes properly when throttle is given, although it might be off still. Figured it was worth trying it out, to...

on the oil cooler lines. whagt is this?

Not needed, but did you try tightening the nut under the valve? I was trying to attach an oil pressure gauge there, and when I opened the valve it leaked there. Someone suggested I tighten the nut, and that stopped the leaking. I will probably leave it there for when I install the gauge...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Would love to know how you wired that in as I'm planning on doing that myself. You put the filter in the spot in the frame with the rubber segment in the fuel line right?

Unless you're talking about the starter relay. Plenty of good reasons to fix that one before it breaks.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

I haven't had to do the Blazer's yet, but when I did my S10's uppers I found that the NAPA ball joints were an order of magnitude easier to install and work with than the Autozone ones. Not sure if they have anything similar for the Blazer though.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Leaving the parking lot to go camping this weekend, and it sounded like either the brand new flex plate just broke loose, or the torque converter has a few pieces loose. Wondering if my new vacuum pump was causing it to shift too soon and put too much strain on the converter.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Changed all the glow plugs, the truck starts up real nice now, and then changed the vacuum pump. Now vacuum's too high! Gotta see how much rotating the valve helps, but I think it might be shot. Anyone still selling good ones? Don't need a gauge probably but if someone's selling handmade...

    Arctic heater?

Summer's almost over, and I think I got my truck's starting issues sorted out. Now that I think I'm happy with it, I'm really leaning towards wanting one of these kits. Just thought I'd mention that and see if these were ever going to materialize.

    Vacuum Pump

I have a specific question about the vacuum pump. The TMs don't go into any real detail about the pump itself. As far as I can tell, I have a dead pump. I hooked the Actron gauge up to the hose running directly from the pump to the regulator, and the gauge registered absolutely no vacuum...

    injectors

Those seem to just be the nozzles and not the entire injector, if you feel like replacing nozzles yourself it sounds like a good way to go about it. There's another user selling Mylex rebuilds that I was considering buying for ~ $20 a pop, they're rebuilt with Italian nozzles, not Bosch. 8...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

jdeoliveira, where did you get that intake? I would love to get a cold air extension on mine, but even your filter housing has a longer mouth on it. That wasn't stock was it?

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Put my friend's head through the windshield. He decided to take his seatbelt off while offroading and I hadn't noticed, we hit an overgrown ditch, and BAM. He was still picking little shards out of his scalp the next day. Should I just call Safelite, especially if I was already wanting to get...

I'm guessing one of these. Stock Turbo for GM 6.5L Diesel Trucks

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Patience was my trick. And a rubber mallet. Screwdriver wasn't really helping. I just tapped each clip down with the mallet along the line, didn't damage the seal the way I did it, but be careful. It was tight at first, I felt like I was going to break the handle rolling it up after I...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Finished fixing the tailgate. New inner/outer seals, new channel filler, reglued the top seal in place. No more tricks to using the window now :)
