Just the other day I heard about a G749 for sale that had been repowered with a 350 V8 that still has 6 wheel drive. I was naturally curious and went to look today. The frame on the truck says M211 but the data plate says 1952 M135.
I'll post up some pictures for those of us curious about the...
You read it right. I did not want to redo all 12 of the brand new wheel cylinders to find out they all still leak like they did when I installed them. It is a large amount of work to keep doing over and over, so I decided to redo the fronts with new seals to see if they held up while testing...
The new master cylinder and rebuilt airpak have been installed since Christmas day. No leaks and the truck is stopping great. I'll be doing the same thing to the rear wheel cylinders soon and will hook the back brakes up again.
Made a little more progress on the truck today. Got the cargo bed pulled off so I can start getting the truck ready for paint this spring/summer.
A welder friend of mine is coming over next weekend if all goes as planned to weld up non-original holes in the cab, hardtop and cracks in the hood...
I've got one of these transmissions that needs a rebuild too, so I am in the same boat as you. Would be neat to find someone in the Tulsa/OKC area that can rebuild them for a reasonable price.
I'd like to do it myself but really don't know what all is needed yet either.
Check out our part list up in the sticky section. We have the seals and gasket numbers listed. The only seal you might need to order is the outer hub seals. We have not been able to find the civilian equivalent yet. They can be found on eBay or from Memphis....maybe other places too but I know...
It probably wouldn't be too noticeable on the roof. I like the idea of the solar powered battery tenders best, but down here, we commonly get hail in the early spring/summer and I figured it would destroy the solar panel. Solargizer is the one I looked at and some of the guys on here use them...
Plowboy...those handles came in on Wednesday. Thank you so much for sending them!!
I was able to get the truck out for a short drive yesterday and so far the brake system is still working great. I'm still making sure those new front wheel cylinders don't decided to leak again before I hook up...
I got my truck out for a drive yesterday too, but it was about 70 degrees out. That is sure some pretty country you have up there.
Section 8....I went out last weekend to fire up my truck and the batteries were dead. I think I am going to get one of these to help with that.
Haha! It is the movie trailer to H3ll is for Heroes if you want to search for a version on youtube they will let you watch. A WW2 movie, but at that point in the trailer, there is a big line of shiny, new looking M135's driving down the road. I have never seen that many M135's in one...
