Yep, I understand the air flow concept, just didn't know how flipping lid actually increased air flow (ie. bigger filter, opens up area for air intake, etc) Love to see pix. It sounds like it just opens area up for air intake, from the comments. Truck

If you were going a short distance, maybe, I don't think I would chance it because the weight of the 1008 is more then the 1009. See the thread on 'road trip from heck' to see what could happen. Truck

When that happened to me, it got louder and louder. When I checked it, it turned out the flexplate bolts had come loose and 3 were sheered off. Could be the same or a cracked flexplate, which is what I was expecting. Truck

Okay, I need to get a M1008 home. I've had it running, but it is missing the 2 alternators and the wires have been cut instead of just disconnected. Is there anything that requires juice, that would prevent me from driving it home (40 miles) on 2 new batteries during the day? Truck
