Yep, I understand the air flow concept, just didn't know how flipping lid actually increased air flow (ie. bigger filter, opens up area for air intake, etc) Love to see pix. It sounds like it just opens area up for air intake, from the comments.

If you were going a short distance, maybe, I don't think I would chance it because the weight of the 1008 is more then the 1009. See the thread on 'road trip from heck' to see what could happen.

When that happened to me, it got louder and louder. When I checked it, it turned out the flexplate bolts had come loose and 3 were sheered off. Could be the same or a cracked flexplate, which is what I was expecting.

RE: Little help
Mike, I appreciate the offer to help. I talked to the seller and he just can't make it at the time. I will figure something out...again I really appreciate the offer.

RE: Re: RE: Starter? Batteries?
when 'tapping' on a starter don't be shy...give it a couple of good wacks. Now you are not trying to knock it off its mounts but trying to knock stuck brushes loose. Many folks do just tap and wonder why that doesn't work.

I'd be interested in a dome light as well. I'll be at...
Okay, I need to get a M1008 home. I've had it running, but it is missing the 2 alternators and the wires have been cut instead of just disconnected.
Is there anything that requires juice, that would prevent me from driving it home (40 miles) on 2 new batteries during the day?
