    New pushrods still popping

Ok, every thing whent back together fine except for the fact that the dial indicator couldnt reach the injector. So we went with the torque method for adjusting the nontopstop injectors but the TQ wrench didnt go to the required 5-6lb-in . So is there any other way to adjust these? Or Do I need...

    New pushrods still popping

Will, I checked the cam follower first thing both the intake and exhaust and they made a nice metalic "wack" when dropped. I thought that I got the cross head adjusted correctly, but now that I think of it while it was running the exhaust valve cross head was wondering on the valves beneath the...

    New pushrods still popping

Well I put the new push rods in and adjusted everything up and still have the popping. So now the head has to come off. Does anyone have a good parts source for gaskets or know of any "tricks" I should watch out for during this head r&r? Thanks- Pappa-g

I would also be interested in doing that and am looking into a 4 door stretched cab. The question for me is M35 or M818.

    Berg Tire Ebay

I ordered a set of 6 11x20 radial XL's and they sent 11x20 NDT's instead. When they heard of the mistake they shipped out a new set and told me just to keep the others. They get my vote!

The Overall Fun Factor: M35A2 Deuce vs. M818 Tractor

Get the 818, strip the 5th wheel off put a 105 trailer box on the back and stretch the cab to fill the gap, or just get a shorty duce with a ps kit, or take and put a duce bed on a 5 ton or put a 5th wheel on your duce... you get the picture plenty of options. I like the extra umph that the...

cummins 250, popping out the intake

The pn on the push rod is 112700 which has been superseded by pn 3046418 which is used on both intake and exhaust. I found a new set of 6 on ebay from a fella in WI. The local parts guys (napa, auto zone) couldn't locate anything. The motor seemed to run (at idle) ok other than the pop pop pop...

So thats how you close that

So between pulling the bent push rod out (see restoration, engine drivetrain) and replacing the "Emergency Engine Stop" cable. I was able to figure out how to close the Tachograph. Take a piece of .042 safety wire and push it in the center of the slot while pushing in thake a small screw driver...

cummins 250, popping out the intake

And the winner is.... Ok, no more bets please. Number one cylinder intake push rod is indeed bent. The intake valves seem to be moving nicely and the crosshead to spring minimum clearance is within specification. How the PR was bent seems to be a mystery and hopefully will forever remain...

Looking to purchase this deuce.... too expensive???

That is what I would consider "Top Dollar". And for me I would expect a full turn key machine, by this I mean; New batteries, fresh oils (diffs, t-case, trans and engine) fresh coolant, New filters oil fuel and air, freshly repacked wheel bearings, hard top, heater and winch, new canvas through...

Need pics of towbars gone bad!!!!!!!!

It aint bent but it's definately twisted! This Bud goes out to Westfolk, who by his own two hands built a towbar that has seen more miles than many of the trucks at GL! This awesome piece of down home engineering propelled by a mighty duce was able to single handedly overcome the laws of...

    5 ton

Just above that solienoid where the fuel line comes in isn't there a manual shutoffvalve? It should have a push/pull cable connected to it. That way if you over ride the solienoid by turning the knurled screw you have a means of shutting it off manually instead of elecally.

Thanks for all the information guys! With any luck I'll have the batteries taken care of and be able to start it and trouble shoot some more on Friday. So place your bets and I'll keep you posted.

cummins 250, popping out the intake

Thanks Ron. This is also what I think. But how would a bent push rod keep it from closing? Wouldn't it keep it from opening completely? Also, how would I go about finding out which cylinder has the bad valve, compression check or is there a different way to tell? Thanks

cummins 250, popping out the intake

The truck has sat for possibly 3 years. When started it backfires through the intake. So there is either an intake valve hanging open or bad head gasket?? If it is the valve hanging open how much room is there before it starts smacking the piston? I pulled 2 of the 3 valve rocker covers and...
