I don't see any reason why the air assist is "junk". I've never used either setup (our bobber has air assist but isn't running), but based on cost and what you actually get for the money, I'd opt for hydraulic. Clinto was saying he's driven a truck with Tom's kit and it was like driving a...
I had 2 pretty serious fuel leaks on our '76 Deuce when we got it (it was a steady drip), and all it needed was to have the lines tightened up going into the secondary filters and coming out of the primary filter.
I might be interested in the ones still mounted if they have good tread, or the non mounted ones, I'll have to see them. If you want, you can text me the pictures.
Well, my clutch is acting a little weird lately (it intermittently grabs low and just feels weird), so hopefully its nothing major and it was just from a lot of use the other day. Plus I have a rear axle seal I need to get replaced at some point, hoping I can find some time between now and then...
You're going to need some somewhat specific tools to pull the wheels/drums off to inspect everything. Namely a 3/4" drive set, 3" 8 point socket (to get the bearings/drums off), and either a geared lug wrench or a pipe to use as a breaker bar. Unless you're very familiar with bearing preloads...
I would have to agree with porkysplace, pull all the drums and check the wheel cylinders, hoses, master cylinder, and air pack. You'll more than likely find several leaks you'll need to address then bleed the system. Don't forget that these come from the military (typically) with DOT 5 fluid in...
Never trust the fuel gauge on a Deuce... Mine reads less than it actually is. I filled it up past the safe fill line (it was an accident), and it only read 3/4 of a tank, so in my case that's a good thing.
I might be interested in at least 2. Truck #2 (the one that broke down) needs two good steer tires, the RF is losing air and is worn out. Let me know what you've got and how much you want.
I'm looking for:
Fiberglass troop seats for a Deuce, good condition.
Possibly some tires, tubes, and flaps (9x20 or 11x20)
Snatch block(s), MDSA I might be interested in yours...
Geared lug wrench, and I don't want to pay out the nose for one, I'll just pick one up off fleabay if needed.
Slave...
The MRAP adapters can be pricey for good ones. Depending on where you get them they run $100+/- a piece plus hardware. I got mine from Peashooter, very nice looking, although I haven't been able to install them yet. The MRAP's with adapter plates and flipped hubs give the tires a nice offset...
If you ran the truck out of fuel and your in tank pump is dead, priming the system is going to be a blast . You're probably going to need to get the in tank pump working, get plenty of fuel in there, and bleed the system.
So your 5 ton has an LDT and not an LDS? I might be interested in one of those engines, I was going to try and go with an LDS for the extra power.
I called him and got a price on them, he's pretty reasonable, especially with the guarantee, but I'm still shopping around trying to find something...
I'll be there. Will more than likely be coming Friday night or Saturday morning. CBR, I will probably want to pick up a jerry can or two, and most definitely a slave cable. I'm going to go through all my parts and see what all I'm wanting to part with and bring some odds and ends also.
On a...
Glad to hear it was a simple fix! I've never actually encountered this issue but I have seen countless no start threads posted that this ended up being the problem.
