I pressure tested the cooling system with the engine cold & the glow plugs removed, It held pressure up to 20PSI perfectly? So I figure it either must have to be hot, or 20PSI isn't enough pressure to cause the leak?
These were NEW 6.5 optimizer heads. I bought them from a company on Ebay in April. This is the copper spray I used..... https://www.ridersdomain.com/motorcycle-accessories/permatex-copper-spray-a-gasket-hi-temp-sealant-p?s=810471&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI6MSK5KX51wIV1IKzCh3WtA6bEAQYAiABEgJBu_D_BwE
New optimizer heads, ARP studs, Felpro gaskets, Permatex copper spray. I got off the highway the other day and it pushed a bunch of coolant out of the recovery tank. And now it won't get up to temperature, and won't recover the displaced coolant. I'm thinking this must be a defective head...
I still think the most accurate information your going to get is from owners themselves. For example how did we all figure out that we should do the "dog head" relay mod? By collectively coming to the conclusion that this was a common problem, and coming up with a solution. So same can be said...
I don't know? I wouldn't call it noise, I'd call it real world data. After all no one drives their cars & trucks in a lab. For instance what's the average lifespan of a 6.2L CUCV, 200-400,000 miles? And what's the most common engine failure? We basically have 30 years of data to sort through, we...
There's a square hole for a 1/2" socket wrench. on the front, here's a pic.....https://www.us-army-military-shop.de/product_info.php?language=en&products_id=6901 Or I like to just use the claw of a crow bar under the front edge of the bracket and pry against the frame rail..
I have a big picture opinion on this whole thing, and goes like this..... Oil companies make (billions & billions) of dollars off feeding the worlds addiction to fossil fuel & oils:drool:. And therefore own all of us starting with politicians, All the car companies, plastics companies, power...
My speedo has a mind of it's own and seems to be affected by the weather. Cold weather it reads 10MPH fast, hot weather who knows?:shrugs: It's the original cable so I'm sure that's the problem. I just use (Speed view) app on my phone for long trips.
Yeah sounds like the box is your biggest culprit, It looks like it's leaking too. My M1028's power steering system will be all new once I can find the time & $$ to replace the box. Every piece sprung a leak one buy one. starting with the lines, then the pump, then the brake booster, and now the...
I speak from experience not conjecture, of course I use break in oils on any new engine. I assumed I didn't need to point that out in my earlier statement:shrugs:. The wiped cams happened after break in when modern synthetics were used and again I'm not the only one. After speaking with several...
Ahh yess, I broke them in properly:roll:, and Yes they were gas engines,(400 HP Ford 289) & (500HP Ford 351W). As to whether new oils can damage our diesel roller cam 6.2's, who knows:shrugs:. The point is the oil companies quietly changed their ingredients causing catastrophic damage to older...
I'm sorry this is just NOT TRUE! I had 2 hotrod motors destroyed by synthetic oils around 2002. And after talking to the techs at Crane cams, and several hotrod shops around Daytona Beach I was not alone. There's an entire market around Zinc additives for older engines! Google Zinc oil additives...
Front pair (10mmX1.5) - (#639580)......... Rear pair (8mmX1.25X24mm) - (#639520)... The only precaution with using these is when your done bleeding them. You'll need to spray a little lube into the bleeder & make sure to use the little rubber plug that comes with them. Otherwise the check valve...
Agreed, the "goop" might be a mix of the wrong brake fluids. As for bleeding, I switch ALL my vehicles over to (Russell speed bleeders). They're a check valve design, which I found actually forces air out by keeping slight back pressure when the bleeder is open. Kind of like when you putt your...
Agreed, I use 15w40 Rotella, and change the oil every 3000 to 4000 miles. Flat tappet engines will be destroyed by the new oils lacking Zink. Not sure about our 6.2's sense they have roller cams, but I figured why risk it.:shrugs:
