Well I got accosted at the fuel pump at 5:00 in the morning in ATL ,by a panhandler. Trying to close my drivers door to get to me, asking for money. So in my haste to get back underway, I must have left my fuel cap on top of the bed rail when I pulled off. So anybody have an extra for...
Well finally got it back together last night. Drove it for a test run last night, and all over town today. I damaged my temp gauge sensor so that's not working. But so far no pressurization of the coolant system[thumbzup]. Sense I found no obvious signs of failure in the gasket or cracks in the...
I had a similar problem a few months ago with GEN2. I did the basic rebuild on the ALT, but still no change. As it turned out the turbo baked the passenger Alt & 1 of the batteries. I'd recommend having both ALT's tested before & after your rebuild. You'll just need to show the person doing the...
HA! I don't know where you guy's got the idea that I would re-use head gaskets? But thanks LOL! However I called ARP, and the studs are re-usable. I'll need some of their tread sealer & torque lube.
Okay so I got the heads off today,no sign of any failure?:shrugs: The gaskets looked good, and there is no cracks on the heads, block, or cylinder walls. There was one stud that was looser then all the rest, but still no sign of failure at that cylinder. I still need to clean all the gasket...
I think you'd be better off focusing on keeping it reliable. The 6.2 is many things, but high performance isn't one of them:roll:. I think playing with gearing would be your best bet short of a motor swap.
Not sure what the bore is on the stock master?, but 1" sounds awful big! Also some master cylinders have a different stroke. I would suggest replacing the master with a stock replacement. 2cents
Yeah when you turn over the motor with no glow plugs installed, the starter is MUCH louder for some reason! Also in the truck, with the bell housing will quite it down as well.
The Chevy Square body has come of age and is currently all the rage in the custom truck scene. There were several at the SEMA show in Vegas, so it should shortly trickle down to the CUCV. There's a huge following of them on Instagram and new companies popping up that specialize in custom parts &...
Well, let the truck warm up, best I could get it to was 195 Degrees just enough to open the thermostat. Water pump seems to be moving coolant at a rate of pouring a glass of lemonade.:shrugs: I did notice some blow by coming from the oil fill cap, but only at idle. Once you give it any throttle...
Well drove the truck this morning, still not getting up to temperature as it should. Just checked it tonight, recovery tank was slap full and had bin pushing coolant out. Upper radiator hose was hard as a rock, and when I removed the radiator cap it released a burst of air. I have one more thing...
Thanks guy's, so here's where I'm at with this. I installed the heads in April and have put about 20,000 miles on sense. Saturday night I pulled off the highway to fill up and it belched coolant out. The temp spiked quickly to 230 degrees when I shut the truck off, but settled down as soon as I...
Well as of this morning the recovery tank is slap full, and the radiator is low. So I'm confident it's a cylinder pressure leak of some sort. So I'm going to tare it apart ASAP while I have the time. But before I do, I need to order head gaskets. I originally installed 6.2 gaskets, but sense I'm...
Yeah I thought this possibly as well. I'm not sure of the water jacket configuration of these engines? But I know on gassers a cracked cylinder ends with coolant in the oil sooo? :shrugs:
LMC and a few others sell these that plug into the ashtray ...............https://www.classicindustries.com/product/all-years/chevrolet/truck/parts/hh1008bk.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMInefxxLb51wIV3ISzCh3iXAXjEAQYASABEgLCbfD_BwE
