I was thinking the same thing- and I live just outside of Portland.
The OR DMV is almost a bipolar place. I registered a stage rally car (1979 RX-7 with a bridgeported 13B wearing a 48mm twin choke Weber and a 4" cat-free exhaust)- no problems, in and out in minutes. I went to register the...
Thanks Chucky. It was there when we moved in, but I did bump the top up 3' when we bought our first boat. Well worth paying someone to do that. I am SO glad to have it!
One more pic which I neglected to include in the above post- one of the pedestal area once the box has been set back down...
A pair jack stands at the back and a pair of high-lift jacks used carefully with some tubing attached to the structure at the front. There's a pic at the top of the post above:
The tubing slides over the tower for the jack and with care, can be used to get the job done.
Reassembly also went well:
Then I realized I had forgotten to fab up the pedestal for the TCM (at least what I think is the TCM). It would be quite foolish not to remove it again and do that seeing as I had everything set up and ready to go. So I did it.
Fabbed up a perch, which looked...
The separation went incredibly well:
So I went off capping and grinding everything which I could find. I also finished a few welds on the underside which were inaccessible from the top:
The box is ready to go back on at this point (I think) but I have a few leftover things to affix to the...
Thanks Chucky. I was thinking about that too but there is potential for a tow point to be constructed at the end of the chassis, slightly below the cargo bay elevation, without effecting ground clearance and departure angle and still letting a tow rope swing without loading the box. I will...
Wandering off topic here but respectfully, please take a moment to understand that why the grid failed had nothing to do with the manner in which power was generated but how the generation stations were managed and maintained...
The water capacity/capability is something I continue to mull over but I do need to start narrowing down the possibilities here soon. I like the reclaim idea but wonder if it's worth the effort. Conversely, if I was already thinking about a filtration system to draw in outside water, it...
That's close to what I came up with too, but I figure I'll lose a bit in radiused corners and internal baffle material volume.
From our boating experience, we've gone 10 days on 150 gallons. I think 100g is a good place to start but would like the extra to make extended boondocking a reality...
Not yet. It's tough to open the doors in the single bay carport. I can barely get them wide enough to get the tire rack up and down.
Next time I exercise it I will take some pic or maybe a video, but I am more focused on getting all the metal work done so it can go in for powder coat. Once...
I wasn't happy with the way the winch line rode over the carrier for the spare tires and had a desire to incorporate some pulleys to relieve the friction- and specifically the wear and tear the line might endure. I wasn't sure how to do it though, but the pulleys showed up Friday evening. My...
Finally something worthy(-ish) of posting- I made tail light pod. I didn't want brake lights so high *that* people wouldn't be paying attention to them, but I also didn't want them down too low- which meant they needed to go somewhere on the door. I took some measurements, did some trig for...
He's asking about what the clearance is as the cab is raised. I am guessing that he doesn't have the truck yet but that he does have the camper.
Here's something for you: the pivot point is ~4' 4" off the ground and ~7" behind the front bumper. As the cab pivots, the most distant portion of...
That may explain things. They are there on the light duty sockets, seemed logical that they'd be on the commercial ones as well. I never looked that closely but just assumed they were there.
Looking at diagrams, it appears there is no reverse light provision in the standard socket connector. Is that accurate?
I have a M1088 and can't imagine there isn't a provision for reverse lights, or am I just being naive?
