If your read it you reap it-alternators

alternators All of the sudden I had a problem with my battery not charging fully and the voltmeter staying in the yellow. I could tell it was not my new glow plugs. I went to the only place I know of in town that rebuilds alternators and they were kind of amazed by the electrical system...

    New BFG tires

You have good tires. I would not let some of the comments here bother me much. I have the almost same thing LT 235/85R16. I don't run off road much, but I do drive on gravel and snow.

    M101A1 License Plate

I need a license plate that would still show with the tailgate level when I haul firewood, but could not find one so I went to the hardware store and bought some hinges. Here are my pics.

Death wobble + Doghead relay mod

I cleaned my fuse box and installed all new fuses under the dash on my M1008. There is a ground on the driver side near the parking break. I cleaned it too. I hope I never have electrical problems as they can be a pita. SRM

    28MT replacement starter

I used these guys. It has a two year warranty and I figured it is better than chinese, but it cost more. I did not want continued starter problems. They are on EBAY. I also got a Pioneer fly wheel from Autozone. Don't forget to get the new starter brace if you change to a gear vendor...

Poll - Who has done the Doghead Relay Conversion

I did the doghead mod, starter, flex plate, spin on fuel filter, bilstein shocks, batteries, 60g's, gp controller card override to the light blue wire for emergencies, new wheels and tires, dual exhaust, mufflers, and trailer hitch with brake control all from reading here. I still need a trans...

    M1028 spin on filter change

Never add gas to a diesel engine unless you want a to buy new engine. The best thing is to use those additives like Diesel Treat and others. I read DT was rated highly even though I switched and will be going back the next purchase. It also is an anti-gel.

    Starter Relay.......Where is it?

I am sure you know, but if your CUCV is converted you have a 12 volt starter and will need to get a 24 volt when you make the change to milspec. Do that doghead starter relay mod too when you make the change just in case. It is not hard at all and will save a meltdown of all your work. I...

Receiver hitch, trailer plug, & brake controller

I was looking and I think I will just remove the spare tire hardware and save it in my junk box. I am thinking seriously about getting a spare tire mount for the bed and be done with it. The hitch weight will make up for the spare tire weight in the rear.

    M1028 spin on filter change

The diesel shop told me if I use additives when I refuel I will not need the heater and mine is removed. It is in my junk box. I have some Diesel 911 behind the seat just in case.

Receiver hitch, trailer plug, & brake controller

I went and looked now that it stopped raining. 3 bolts to the bumper and more to the frame. I don't think it is going anywhere.

Receiver hitch, trailer plug, & brake controller

It was a civilian fiberglass cover painted with CARC by the National Guard. No part number that I can find. SRM

Receiver hitch, trailer plug, & brake controller

I knew someone would ask and I have no idea what brand it is. They had Hidden Hitch and Curt on display. All I know is it is 16,000 lbs, more than I will ever need. Yep, that is an 8 track that still works... I will be getting a better stereo if I ever find one I like at a good price. SRM...

Receiver hitch, trailer plug, & brake controller

After reading this forum I decided to have my hitch installed by the pro's. Today I got a 8 ton receiver hitch ($265 installed), 7 pin plug, and brake controller ($185 installed). I did not want to mess around and cause a dangerous situation on the highway. Transmission cooler is next and I...

    Water in cab

That's a dang good idea. I will be doing the side vent screws when it dries up some. EDIT- I think I found the culprit. Water is coming in around the side vents and some of the water runs along the frame and drops down to the floor. Seal the vent frame & screw holes and I should be GTG.

    Water in cab

We have been having heavy rain and I have been trying to solve the water in M1008 cab. I know about the side vent screws. My windshield do not leak, but there is a spot on the drivers side that looks like it is coming from the firewall. These are not huge leaks, but enough I cannot put my...

    15 min trans oil change

My trans pan came with gasket sealer instead of a seal. I had it changed. Dirt in the trans is not good for it.

    Wait Light Question

I would check the ground to the instrument panel too. I did and my bright light indicator started working. Mine is attached to left of the parking brake. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/63158-dim-dash-lighting.html If the gauge is working you are making your gp's work every time you cycle...
