There's usually not any "sneaking" about it.
Many states have provisions for retitling off road vehicles of various types into street legal vehicles so long as they meet certain safety equipment requirements, most of which the HMMWV already has thanks to being built to MIL-STD-1180B standards...
Exactly what 86humv said. Got bit myself on that same thing.
If I recall correctly, MacMotors had the best price on them and that's where I got mine. They actually sell on eBay too.
The part number will be molded into the back.
I've used SeaFoam to clean out fuel systems, intakes, and crankcases but only a few times because with proper maintenance you shouldn't need it very often. It only works at cleaning because it's basically 2 solvents, naptha and isopropyl alcohol (blended with a couple other additives), that will...
I wasn't going to say anything but that's what I was thinking.
Didn't want to leave the guy hanging with no info though...
Maybe one of the mods could split it and the other posts off to its own thread?
I don't see any reason why you couldn't. That was/is a pretty common fix on gasoline powered vehicles with mechanical fuel pumps, especially to cure vapor lock issues.
Just make sure you find either a 24v one or have the dual volt alternator if you're going to run a 12v so you don't potentially...
I can't give a full cost since I'm still getting parts together but here's where I'm at:
TCM - $250
Shifter - $350
Trans status indicator light - $20
Relay for switched 12v power for the trans system - $50
4L80E to 242 t-case adapter - $35
Water pump mounting plate/timing chain cover with...
Yep, just wanted to use the correct term they're referred to as in the TM.
I figured OAL is going to be the determining factor since I know the 4L80E is a longer transmission than the TH400. I just don't have access to a 4L80E equipped truck so that's why I was hoping someone here had the info...
+1 to this! Folks like 86humv and others that are getting parts to the MV community at reasonable prices when they could be selling on places like eBay for a lot more in some cases are definite assets to the community!

Looking for the best and fastest way to ID prop shafts in a quantity of unknown ones (no/illegible tags).
More specifically rear shaft 2520-01-413-2724/6003666/12447113 and mid shaft 2520-01-413-0080/6002607/12447114, ones for a truck with 4L80E and 4 bolt 242 t-case.
I'm guessing overall...
Yes, the A2 trucks are equipped with the 4L80E and it does have park.
Here's one of the newer 4 speed shifters:
I would think one of these shifters would work with a 700R4 (assuming the gates line up correctly) but the problem is, the supply on surplus ones is a bit limited. Previously...
A couple local buddies with HMMWVs and I, on discussing 4 speed trans upgrades and Southern Metals no longer being a source for new 4 speed shifters, had pondered the ability to modify the existing shifter assembly with one additional gate forward for park and one additional gate backwards for...
Most all of my smaller gauges seem to do what you're describing. Not nearly as bad as OP's. That would seem to be a major leak with it.
In fact, I've got a brand new temp gauge I installed several months back and it will also fog up slightly after a bit of driving. Even has a dog hair sealed...
For the tailgate, I picked up this tailgate weatherstripping from Amazon. I've had it in the truck for the past year and it works well!
For around the soft doors, I just installed the X-135 weatherstripping from db Engineering. It fits perfectly around the door openings and the adhesive is...
I tried to buy 5 MTRs from them about a year ago but could never get them to respond to several emails or voicemails so I got them elsewhere.
Someone I know in Texas did manage to get a set of BFG Baja T/As from them and they were happy with them.
I'd say if you don't hear from them in a...
Just an FYI, that vent line on the tank does not run to the fuel pump. It runs to a gold colored cylinder, mounted under the hood right by the coolant reservoir. That is the fuel tank vent filter (#13).
If you disconnected the vent line from the pump only but not the one on the tank vent...
HETvet is right. The Lizard Skin sound deadener is awesome stuff!
I did a before and after video when I applied it to my tub.
Before:

After:

I did both the Lizard Skin sound deadener and thermal...
Harbor Freight has one for $6 and it comes with a big spool of thread that's suitable for using on the doors. You can go with waxed thread if you want better sealing and less fraying on the end while you're stitching.
This is the video that shows you how to use it and tie it off. It's pretty...
