I don't want to quiet my deuce down at all cause I like the noise but can anyone tell me if a muffler hurts the perfomance. I have read a lot of posts about putting a muffler on a deuce but no one has said anything about the way it runs. Just curious. Bob C.
10 lbs of oil pressure for every 1000 rpms is fine. The pinging is probably the lack of lead in the fuel. You can also play around with the timing until the pinging goes away just so long it does not affect the performance. Great looking truck by the way! Nice work.
Jay, Did you take your 5-ton? I don't see it in any pictures. Looks like a great time for all. I will get down to visit someday. We go to South Carolina on vacation every year.
Just a heads up to everyone. When applying the "National Symbol" (star) on horizontal surfaces , the star will be applied with one point directly toward the front of the vehicle or equipment. On vertical surfaces the star will have one point directly up. That is from the TB 746-93-1 marking manual.
I think the biggest problem is the demand for these GMC parts. If more people would restore the trucks instead of scrapping them , the dealers would want to stock more parts. Why would you want to stock parts for trucks that sit on the shelves for years. Too many guys are afraid of the GMC...
Hey Warren, I'd be glad to get my deuce in some fall pictures. Just say the word and I'm there. There is a nice gentleman down the street from me with a beautiful WWII jeep. I'm sure he would participate also. Some of those fall pictures you have posted are right around the corner from me.
Stumps, My point AGAIN is this, make sure you know what is wrong and how it happened before you tear and engine down to the bear block! Could the valves be bent? Sure they could and they probably are. That would be the first step in the repair process. Too many times I have seen guys disasemble...
First of all, not every overhead valve motor is an interference motor. Just one example, and there are many, is the Ford 300 six with the fiber cam gear. The reason why I know this is because the fleet of 150 vehicles that I am in charge of has 9 vans with these motors in them. They have over...
The grab handle is from Home Depot. It's in the hardware section. Under 10.00. I used 5/16 head self tapping screws to mount it. Of course I had to paint it CARC green.
Here are a few pictures of my interior light install. The light unit is made by Truck-lite. Part #79358-R comes with red lens and 1156 bulb. I ran a power wire from the battery on the left, looking at it from the passenger side, that is grounded to the chassis to a switch so I could get 12...
My fluid level is at the fill plug also. I have no problems with leaks. If you look at the size of a deuce tranny, I don't think it is a matter of air space that helps cool it. I think it would be interesting to see how much more fluid is added between the one knuckle level and the fill plug...
I make sure my computer is working at all times! Any part I need is only a click away. Can't afford and don't have the room to store spare parts. Not to say I don't have parts for my M-211 that need to be installed but that is a work in progress.
