It's the direct drive, and yes, it's going to be rebuilt/replaced. Right now one bolt is holding the case together and one bolt holding it on. I wonder how long it has been like that.
Hope you do well with no damage. The amount of time they are predicting the storm to stay there is scary for sure. I'm 6 hrs north of NOLA, let me know if you need a place to bug out to. Keep your head down.
The bracket is there, but not connected. The bolt holding it to the starter, which I think also holds the housing on, is missing as well. I'm going to either replace or rebuild the starter because the drive teeth are also ground down a bit. This seems to have been an issue on this truck...
Thanks for the help. Not looking forward to the job, but it sure will be nice to get it fixed. It also came from GL with one starter bolt sheared off, so I'll take care of that as well. You got your flex plate at NAPA? I looked on their website and they list several. I'll get the GM part no and...
I searched the CUCV forum using "flex plate". Lots of listings, I'm sure it's in there somewhere. Just thought someone might have recently done one. I was hoping for the NAPA no. because that's where I'll most likely buy it. Their website lists six for a 4WD 1 ton truck. Different tooth count...
Anyone know the NAPA (or other) part no. for the flexplate from a 1986 M1009? I have a bad spot on mine and occaisionally win the "roulette" game when it stops over the starter. Usually at night, in the rain, in the mud, or a combination of the above. Time for a new one!!
I'm on a trip, home by 9/1. That's as soon as I can get to them. Do you have the old ones? If so, you can take them to a parts store and match them up.
Not the answer you wanted, but I have a set for the M939 series, not A2. I got them with a bunch of other stuff but they are V belts and my A2 uses a serpentine one. Let me know if you want them.
Cool project! Have you thought about a pair of CJ7 doors? They are basiclly welded rods covered in vinyl. You could reshape them to fit and have canvas covers made for them. They also just lift off if you don't want or need them on. Not too spendy at swap meets or ebay. If memory serves, the...
Did you forward your correspondence to ebay? You may not get your money back, but they may take action against him to prevent another fraud. If you used a credit card through Paypal, you might be able to dispute it through the card issuer. If anything was sent via USPS you can also file a mail...
I am looking at a 1953 M38 Willys and would like some experienced input. The truck has had an amature resto, but is just about rust-free. It has what looks like an original top, but Bubba-engineered bows. Runs like a champ, new guages, tires, seats. Looks good, has a title. The owner wants $5K...
How much is the truck? I know some police/fire vehicles go pretty cheap. If the rest is in good shape you may still have a bargain and a new IP to boot. The pumps and kits are on ebay, not sure of the time involved. I'm going to do mine soon, it sometimes dies when revved up and allowed to idle...
Sounds like injector pump seals are starting to go. Fuel filter is a possibility as well, cheap and easy to change just to be sure, but I'd bet on the IP. If that's your only issue, it sounds like a good truck. Welcome to the site!
