Those are not fuses, they are the field leads, F1 and F2
If you have no continuity between f1 and f2 you either have a broken wire, connector unplugged or bad, or an open field winding
I'll un-ban him just for the show, if he manages to get himself banned by then.
That seals it for me, if San Fransisco Dave is gonna be there, I'm going to try my best to get off of work and show up at least for a day.
I just saw this thread and was going to suggest checking the shaft again. When the transmission grinds going back into park, it is the transmission "free wheeling" with no resistance on the output.
Pete, I did post some info about drivability and a little about mpg up in the thread somewhere. But for the information, it drives GREAT. MPG is not as good as I had hoped, but it is better than it was. It would be better if I slowed down, but the only times I've run the truck was to work and...
Bump back to the top. Apparently the point still isn't getting through. People, you really need to read and understand this, or the banning will commence shortly.
You are thinking about two totally separate issues. The doghead relay mod (named after one of our members) is just replacing the starter relay under the dash with a heavy duty one, there is no kit. It takes about 20 minutes to do the mod. Look at the stickies at the top of the CUCV section of...
Read this thread...The Road Oiler gets overdrive (700R4 Swap)
It is a chronicle of my recent 700R4 swap. The transmission is a direct bolt in, you will see in the thread that I had the short transfer case adapter and needed to make a spacer block. If you use the tall adapter then everything...
If it is stuck, the starter just keeps spinning. Once the engine is running you might not be able to hear it. If that is indeed what happened, when you replace the starter do the relay mod as well. It only takes about 20 minutes or so to do and it is a much better relay then the stock one...
Kenny, thanks for the correction, I was off by a few pounds!
I agree with you fully, the gearing of these trucks will definitely make it easier on the transmission. The guy that rebuild mine only gave me two pieces of advice when I told him what it was going into...make sure the TV cable is...
Have you done the doghead starter relay mod?
Just a guess, but if not, your starter relay could have stuck on and taken out the starter and the rear battery terminal. You will still have lights and such since they are 12 volts and get their power from the front battery.
I mentioned the truck being a 1 ton, because to the best of my knowledge, GM never intended this transmission to be in a vehicle that heavy duty. I do realize that they were installed in some full size suburbans with the 6.2 but even at that I'm willing to bet there is still a significant...
Wayne,
I'm not saying that it was the issue with your trans that blew up, but is the pic in your avatar the truck at question? If so, pushing a plow around with a 700R4, not quite build heavy enough, and also in a 1 ton truck probably had something to do with the lack of longevity.
