    MEP 003 Died

Update, I have the oil pressure switch and the high temp switch bypassed. I have replaced the start relay and tested the main switch as shown in the TM. Everything is good there. New stator on the DC charging system and it is working right. The DC circuit breaker tested good. This thing still...

    MEP 003 Died

Thanks, I hold the start switch a few seconds after the unit starts to be sure the oil pressure is up then I release it. I tested the oil pressure switch as shown in the TM and it is good. I have the ASK off and while it is off plan to relocate the oil press gauge so it will be visible with the...

    MEP 003 Died

Thanks for the info. You are right about the slave cables, I thought the system would work like the old car/tractor system where it would run and be ok without batteries. I guess that is what I get for thinking. I tested the high temp safety and I know that it is bad. Also tried to run the gen...

    MEP 003 Died

Does anyone have a DC stator for the MEP-003A generator that they will sell? Also I need an over-heat sensor for the engine. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Sarge29

    MEP 003 Died

I tested the output voltage on the stator. I got about 4 volts instead of 35 volts shown in the TM. I did not check the over-heat circuit (did not think about it) but the oil pressure circuit tested good.

    MEP 003 Died

OK, After digging into the TM's I have found that the DC stator is bad. I won't know about the DC regulator until I can get a stator and get it in. What else may have went out because I ran the gen without batteries? I didn't know that running with an open circuit (no batteries) would burn out...

    MEP 003 Died

I did check the fuse for the DC charging system and it was good.

    MEP 003 Died

I was running my generator for an old timers reunion for my old NG unit when it just shut down. I restarted it and as soon as I released the start switch after holding it long enough for the oil pressure to build up it shuts down every time. I checked the oil pressure switch and it is good. A...

H1 bias ply with a tube in it?

I just was not sure about running the tire on there without the runflat in it. I knew that a tube would work but not sure how well the tire would stay on the wheel. There was something that just didn't look right. I guess I an used to looking at a regular wheel.

H1 bias ply with a tube in it?

Just curious if anyone has ever ran the bias tire with the beadlock removed and a tube put in. I want to use this setup for a highway spare but not if it is a death trap. I just need a spare and this one has good tread but the local tire shop boogered up the bead and it wont seal with the...

1008 drifting on acel and decel

Thanks for all the help. What I found was the rear tires were different sizes. I measured the OD of the rear tires and there was almost 1/2 inch difference. I pulled all 4 and matched up a set for the rear and adjusted the air pressure to 35 in the left rear and 33 in the right and got them to...

OK, I will work on getting the tires sized the same on each axle. SPECIALTYLC - What do you think is going on with the Detroit locker?

1008 drifting on acel and decel

OK, I just finished putting a set of 36x12.5x16.5 H1 bias tires on my truck. I used spacers on all 4 corners. At this time I have not lifted the truck but a 2 inch lift is in the works. I have a slight rub on the left front and a slight rub on the right rear on the front axle and the rear is...

    autozone shackle kit

Check into the zero rate blocks and use that. Be sure to bolt them into the spring pack as recommended by the manufacturer. That is the easiest way to do what you want. You will also have the ability to adjust the axle to center it in the fender to give a little more clearance. I am planning on...

    Spacer Kit for Hummer Wheels

OK, I decided to go with spacers for the front of my 1008. My question is about the studs. I will be using the truck for road use with an occasional trip across the pasture and some trailer towing on the farm and on the road. An earlier post stated to be sure the spacers were for EARLY chevy...
