Monty,
I am a new M1009 owner. I purchased mine in May 2012. I purchased mine from a guy in the memphis area. So I was able to view and drive before purchase.
I had rust cancer along the door panel floors, and the top were the top bolts onto the cab. I had a welder fix it for $350...

I have a 84 M1009. Currently I have no major issues with my Th400 Transmission.
I understand that our CUCVs are over 26 years old, and will become rare. I try and be proactive rather than reactive to problems. If I can buy pieces at a time.
So I would like to buy a 700r4 that will work on a...
Warthog,
I took out my instrument cluster recently. to clean and replace all bulbs.
After I did this I got a Gen1 light back, but lost Gen 2 light.
So Gen 2 uses a different bulb? I am fairly certain I used 168 bulbs in replacing all bulbs. The auto parts store checked on their computers...
Keith J,
Thank you so much for your assistance here! You have given me some direction here.
You have gotten me thinking, I took out the whole dash and tried to clean the thin printed circuits. Maybe in my cleaning attempt I was too aggressive? In the end I fixed some issues, but created...
I got the battery's fully charged.
Key off Engine off Battery 1 12.89 battery 2 12.69
Key on Engine On Battery 1 13.35 Battery 2 12.63
Key off Engine off Gen1 red 12.88, brown 0, Gen2 red 25.58 Brown starts off 5.2 and drops to 0
Now with the Engine on is where it gets odd.
Key On...

Thanks for your input! I want to verify my readings from the 2 pole connector. I will do this on Sunday.
The batteries are weak and will do a load test on them. I want to verify the batteries are good.
I just checked the Front battery after it finished charging I get a solid...
It concerned me when I am getting voltage on the brown wire. The initial and first reading is I have voltage on the Brown wire, then it starts to drop slowly. So to completely understand I should have NONE ZERO voltage on brown wire with key and engine off even though it does drop?
I guess I...
I have a alternator charging issue. It started with me not getting a solid 14.7 on front battery with engine running, and no Gen 1 light. I had good reading a light from Gen 2
After reading various post from Barrman, Warthog, and others I have done much work, but I still have alternator...
Sorry you broke down. If you don't have AAA? I would consider getting it. Especially with these old CUCVs. You never know when the SHTF.
I got the middle package that includes 4 free tows up to 100 miles. I has already saved me twice.
When I signed upped they gave 3 extra months...
Hello,
I am looking to install A/C on my M1009. I understand this has been covered before. I have read many of these threads. So this is mainly geared toward current M1009 owners with A/C installed.
I am looking at the NAP in dash A/C unit for the CUCVs. They did have issues with a...
I could have a local company rebuild the alternators. If I do that I don't learn anything.
The Alt combo kit from cucv electric is on it's way.
Thanks for the tips on cleaning Alt. I am looking at using paint thinner and a scotch bright.
I will then use air hose and let it dry out...
This week I pulled my Alternator (Gen1). I can only get 12.6 from Gen1 with no load.
Anyway, the Gen tested out fine. From reading various posts on the site everyone has talked about diode trio or voltage regulator may be the problem.
I figure the work seems simple enough, and $10 in parts...
Sorry I haven't had a chance to trace the hose.
I am troubleshooting Gen1 issues.
Doghead, the idea as part of the old fuel filter sounds good. I need to verify. I had someone add the new fuel filter for me.
I will trace and verify and report back when I know something.

So are you saying that the splice connectors in my photo are fusible links?
Did I mistaken these as splice connectors? They are really fusible links?
I know I cut one rubber fusible link out. Are there more?
I need to check the TM's for the fusible links. I should find it in the -34...
Doghead,
Thank You. Yes, 12.43 is too low. After my cleaning the voltage stayed the same. The cleaning needed to be done.
I have been running this way for 6 months now thinking I was doing pretty good. HAHA!!
The SHTF when I placed a load on it Heater on high and lights. I figure Gen 1...
Last weekend I got stranded because of low battery.
I have 2 new batteries less than 6 months old. The volt meter is reading between yellow and green.
I did some simple testing at the battery. With engine running I get 12.43 V from Front battery. Back Battery 14.57. I haven't done testing...
