cpf240,
Very good point concerning belts. I am chasing the problem all over the place.
I will check belt slipping. Belts seem tight to me with my knowledge.
Thank You for the suggestion.

Update and Plan.
I finally get a consistent Gen 1 light, but I am still getting a inconsistent voltage reading. Both Gens are good.
Last week I did a 200 mile road trip to verify I got periodic power lose issue fix. Yes I did fix power lose issue. The voltage showed between yellow and green...
Yes, I also suggest LMC.
I have rebuilt my the rear handle on my M1009. I got parts from LMC that came with a chrome handle.
you can get black handle on Ebay.
It was a real pain to putting all back together.
There is a link on SS on putting it back together with Pictures.

Thanks for all input. The Nissan Murano isn't the ideal vehicle to tow a M101a2.
Currently its the cheapest solution I have for recovery.
It does have bows. No tarp.
I was thinking about I could add some extra weight to the back part of trailer if needed.
So my towing isn't ideal, but would...
Hello,
I am looking to recover a M101a2 about 350 mile or 5 hour drive.
I am looking to tow with a 2003 Nissan Murano with pintle hook reciever.
The murano has a Class 3 hitch installed with weight limit of 3500lbs. Not sure about my Tongue weight limit? I am guessing between 200 and 300...
Skinny,
From your quote. It is scary! The mechanic help worked with me on the issue.
I try and spend as much seat time as I can with the CUCV. I want to learn to fix myself, but it's a learning process.
The problem with me is that I don't have any prior mechanical training.
My mechanic...
I finally got a Gen 1 light today. I have learned No gen lights at start up, then the gen isn't working.
This is very exciting for me. For you experts not so much.
I have been fighting the Gen 1 not charging properly for months. My volt meter has allows been between yellow and green. It...
I got a new speedo from LMC. Seems to work well. I also had to replace speedo cable as well.
I ordered a speedo cable for a TH400 fromLMC. It was too short. I found correct one on Ebay.
When checking the speedo with my GPS. My Speedo is off. What I found is that speeds say below 45 MPH...
No I don't plan to create a database.
My reason for creating the charging system log was to create a sheet for users with charging / alternator problems.
It's an easy sheet that you may record battery and alternator readings.
Trying to give back the best I can.

Update.
I got the CUCV out today she did good most of day. Even when I got the front end stuck. That's a different post.
Suddenly driving on city roads I was going around 45 MPH and I Lost power and she died on me. After about 10 minutes I got her to start again.
I drove another 10-15 miles...
Well, I took my thanksgiving road trip. About 100 miles.
The trip started out great rolling down the interstate with no worries. Keeping her between 65-70 mph.
I stopped about 50 miles into the trip for a bite to eat. It was at a Love's Truckstop so I figured I put a little fuel in her. I...
I created a CUCV Smartbook. Link: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?95693-CUCV-Smartbook
I am finishing up version 2 of the CUCV Smartbook now.
With Electrical issues a very common problem. I created a CUCV Charging system log. It's in PDF format.
Any changes or suggestions...
Thanks for your input. I agree with the problem being intermittent it's hard to track down and could be numerous things.
This afternoon I took her on a drive to try and reproduce the problem. We did over 25 miles up and down winding hills. Not once did she it hesitate with power.
I am at a...

Yea, all heater electrical should be great now? A CUCV with electrical problems imagine that! HAHA! If it wasn't for the electrical gremlins I would be bored.
I got my heater overhauled it works so much better now. I replaced heater core, heater switch, blower motor and fan, and the...
I replaced my heater core recently. As per the advice on this site I wanted a copper/brass heater core. I pulled a heater core from a junk yard and had it cleaned, Flushed, and repaired. Cost me $45 total.
CycleJay recently did a heater over haul. In his post he listed part numbers...
Has anyone taken a M1031 bed and placed it on a trailer?
This is a custom trailer so I don't know about weight. This is something I was thinking about towing with my M1009?
Has anyone done this custom trailer? I am interested in looking at this custom trailer if anyone has done this...
I have got an issue where I lose engine power periodically. It started a month ago. I have been trying to find a common thread and reproduce the problem with no luck. This isn't a chronic problem at all.
I seem to lose power when trying to accelerate a hill mostly. It doesn't happen all the...
Welcome to SS.
The CDR value from what I understand is hard to find. You can find NOS CDR Values on Ebay.
It's hard to say what other parts parts are different from chivy 6.2 diesel. I suggest you do reaesrch on the site.
Most of time you can get the correct part number on the site...
I have Gen1 issues. The light isn't coming on at start up, and I am only getting 12.4V with the engine running.
I have done the following.
Rebuilt Gen 1
Replaced Exciter plug
Clean dash connection
Replaced bulb with 168
Replaced heater switch.
Checked heater fuse.
From my research I have...
CJ,
This company doesn't make the grommets. Sorry I wasn't clear on this with my previous post. They are only a distributor. CJ as you quoted earlier the company works mostly with large government contracts.
The government has no problem with a $56 rubber grommet.
Can anyone find a better...
